Okay, I'm a music snob. One of my all time favorite albums of any genre is Outkast's ATLiens. Timeless. Magical.

I miss Big Boi and Andre 3k rappin together. They need to reunite somewhere in the Egyptian desert sands not far from Mokattam Hills, smoke a fatty, and put pen to paper.

However, Big Boi just dropped a new solo album. I was very hesitant to even listen to it. But an ethereal voice summoned me.

Blown away! Big Boi far exceeded my expectations. Especially considering I've hated rap for about a decade and I've been on a very hipster electronic pop binge lately.

He found a way to collaborate with electronic masters Phantogram and Little Dragon. Listen to this killer song:

Big Boi - Lines

If you like it, check out the rest of his album. Very Outkast-ish but with a sonic electronic dreamscape sound. Very un-rap. Very cool.

The only thing I liked about this were the Little Dragon features. This album was trash, imo. I'll still wait for new Andre music before bragging about Big Boi... that's just me

I have been listening to it also and I can agree, it's very different from anything they've put out. I can tell some of these songs will become timeless hits.

It's interesting to see how his father passing away affected his music. He did some nice heartbroken tributes to him.

I copped this yesterday, and I'm glad I did. His previous album was sick, and this one takes off where SLLF left off. Great production, Good features, (Big Boi and Killa Mike need to do a album together!)and of course the rhymes are tight. The album flows and something that fans of different genres can listen to.

Gossip & She Said OK should have been on this album but I'm guessing that some of the featured artist couldn't get cleared & that's why these songs weren't included.

he was playing the festival circuit in 2012. i'm sure he just asked what all the white people would like and promptly hired phantogram and little dragon.

Outkast -- ATLiens is my favorite album of all time.

The chemistry that they have together as rappers is second to none. They are both great rappers in their own right, but when they're stacking verses on top of each other back and forth, it just adds a different element. It just sounds gooooood.

Case in point, first verse of Wheelz of Steel

Big Boi:
Once upon a time not long ago
When the player from the Pointe didn't have no flow
A **** hit me for my tennis shoes, walking to the store
Caught a **** slippin, but now I lay it to the floor
just like carpet, cause I got the heat in my rhythm
Momma nay not, never braggin just to stay knot
Even when I was a younger lad I learned my lesson
Never talked to strangers in the trap and answered questions

Andre:
The Pope and his folks got us under a scope
But for unknown reasons cause we don't sell dope
That you distribute, we don't contribute, to your clandestine
activity, my soliloquy, may be hard for some to swallow
But so is cod liver oil
You went behind my back like Bluto when he cut up Olive Oyl
Two things I hate lies and thieves they make my blood boil
Boa constricted, on my soul that they call

Just every mini-verse flows naturally into the next mini-verse. And the resulting whole of the verse is that much more amazing.

So, yeah, they're bette as a group. Maybe they don't need each other, but I need them to need each other.

Did you not listen to Big Boi's first solo album? It was good.

Big Boi -- Train pt. 2
