James shields is 31. Myers is the best hitting prospect in baseball.
KC is stupid if they give up any more than him.
They need to at least be getting a top prospect along with Shields.

I still think KC gave up more than Myers for them.... I mean we are talking KC and TB from earlier reports was looking for a great deal to actually trade Shields. His numbers past 2 seasons have been among some of best

I would rather get Myers as well, but it is not a lopsided deal.
Shields has started at least 31 games since 2007. In four of those years, he has been at least a pretty good pitchers (with 2011 being that he was absolutely terrific). He was mediocre in 2009 and bad in 2010, but I think the Royals are getting a very consistent starter who should give them similar numbers as in 2012.
He started ringing up K's in 2011 and that habit persisted last year even though he did not have a repeat of his godly season. Also, he had a dramatic spike in groundouts/flyouts last year. All these stats were in the AL East, but the Trop definitely seems to favor pitchers.
I guess the Royals just really wanted pitching, so they got their "ace" (high-end #2 IMO) and back of the rotation guy in Wade Davis. I still do not understand the want to move Myers and they probably could have better, but I do not think it is straight highway robbery.
