Player sources say they rejected a last-ditch settlement offer on the bounty case because it required acknowledgement of some culpability. 2-game suspension for Hargrove, 4-game fine for Will Smith and Paul Tagliabue will decide whether he suspends Jonathan Vilma for the rest of the season and Vilma drops defamation suit. Tagliabue's decision expected Tuesday. Scott Fujita already had his suspension reduced to one game. Filed to ESPN w/ @EdWerderESPN. League says they will continue to respect the process.
Keep fighting.

Wow, that settlement sucks.
Why would they offer that?

This tells me there won't be much change in punishment.

The token white guy in all of this to keep it from becoming a racial issue.
But they had to know that leaving Vilma up in the air like that was a deal breaker. It's also clear they reeeeally want Vilma's suit to go away. If Vilma pissed that away, he has no court of last resort. With the lawsuit, Vilma still has cards to play and the league is not in control.

The players have gotten the NFL to try and settle with reducing the suspensions twice. I still say tell them to screw off. What the hell have you got to lose now?
