Close range interference with mid range rifle shots

Hunting a pop up this am with my .308 with the longest possible shot 185 yrds. I'm curious do you think there would be significant alteration of bullet flight if I were to shot through the mesh pass through windows designed for arrows to pass through?
What about accidentally nicking one of the small green briar vines or twigs that have fallen in front of the windows?

I can't imagine the mesh having any affect on the bullet. The limbs, possibly, seems like it would depend on a few things?!
Like how big the limb is and how far the shot is. Of course this is just my opinion!

At 185 yards the slightest deflection angle could put your shot off by as much as a foot. At that range just because you cant see a branch in your scope doesn't mean that your bullet wont hit one as your crossairs and bullet path dont actually converge until they reach the target.
Eta: Unless you are shooting round nose bullets. Those will handle the obstruction with little problem.

If you had a brush gun, it would not be an issue

Remington core lockt PSP 150 gr. Most limbs/twigs only 1-2 ft in front of gun and no larger than half diameter of a pencil

The mesh, no. The limbs, you never can tell. And don't believe the wives tales about different bullets. They all deflect. No bullet is any better. You can't tell about the limbs. Eight times out of ten, there might not be much effect, the other two times it might make your shot miss by a mile.

I would trim the branches. A small deflection three feet from muzzle could mean feet at 150yards.

Pop up being attacked by 6 bluejays at moment no quadrpeds to shoot at.

Low grain, small diameter bullets will be more adversely affected by limbs, branches, twigs than a large grain, large diameter bullet. I use the .270/7mag on highlines and the .444 Marlin for up close thick cover hunting.

Numerous test have shown that the size of the bullet and velocity make no difference in brush busting. In fact, if anything, the bigger and slower it is, the more it is affected. In one test the 45/70 fared the worst of anything, including things like the .243.

Not in my vast experience. And I'm twice the hunter all Myth Buster is.

The closer to you the deflection happens, and that means anything that bullet hits, the more off it's gonna be downrange.
There is no such thing as a 'brush round'.
You'd think that mesh wouldn't effect it much, but I'd be willing to bet that if you put if on paper you'd be pretty disappointed in the groups. It's not like an arrow going through it by slicing. The bullet has to punch through. When even the slightest harmonic change on the barrel from just touching something will throw the bullet off, having to punch through plastic mesh is definitely going to have some effects. And those effects will be magnified the further downrange it goes.
Now if you've got the barrel up to it and the gasses melt it before the bullet gets touched... no effect. Would be interested in seeing someone do this on paper.

That should put an end to the debate -- well played sir.

That is a great point I would never have thought of.

I'd get those branches/twigs out of the way.
