I don't agree about better academics, that's a meaningless designation, you can get as good of an education as you want from either.
From a football perpective, Alabama does not offer anything LSU does not.

I have no penis envy towards Bama. I respect them though. Why does everyone on this website get so up in arms about that school? Jesus. It's like striking a match with some people. Chill on it.
