As far as bad movies about alien invasions go, Battleship beats the hell out of Skyline.

I's say Skyline makes Battleship look like Saving Private Ryan.

Except the plausible part: I didn't understand why neither they nor the aliens had radar or night vision. Also their guns can fire 23 miles but had to do a close up broadside volley. They had to fire blind, but could still communicate with all the buoys.

The little shield generator seemed to disable radar. The idea was that they could access the tsunami grid because the aliens didnt think to disable that.

Also, historically, very few conventional Naval engagements were fought beyond visual range. Shooting a 16" gun at a stationary target is one thing.

Theater owners get a nice cut of the boxoffice

I always thought they didn't really get much at all, which is why the concessions are so overpriced.

I enjoyed Battleship for what it was...I went in expecting it to be bad but entertaining, and that's basically what it was. I enjoyed it for the most part. Rhianna is awful though. No doubt.

Skyline was way better. And way more realistic of what an alien invasion would be like. I don't get the hate for skyline.

Perhaps because it was a shitty movie that took place almost completely in an apartment.

But by taking place in the apartment the viewer gets a taste of the feeling of entrapment that one would feel if aliens were running around outside. Similar to Cloverfield. People rag on it bc of the shaky camera and unanswered questions but those things are what makes the movie different.

I'd watch it again, Brooklyn Decker was so fine.

to be honest though, the only reason I saw this movie was because the remote on my flight wasn't wouldn't let me scroll to the right, and so I could only choose from the first movies listed under certain genres and what not, and this was one of my choices. There is a lot of time to watch movies on an 8 hour flight

Battleship wasn't THAT bad, entertaining at least.

And it was Gone with the Wind compared to Cowboys & Aliens, so there's that......

LOL but you have to admit, if they ever start a series called "Movies that while entertaining DO suck" Cowboys and Aliens will be there.

I didn't think Skyline blew beacause of the apartment, but because of the actors the viewers were forced to watch in that apartment. Horrible. Brittany Daniel could've at least had a shower scene or something. I will give it credit for having a genuinely creepy not Hollywood ending though.

Battleship was a tasty grilled cheese IMHO.

I agree the acting in Skyline was not awesome. But the premise of the movie was cool IMO.
