To be fair, he has a far better resume than Les Miles when he was hired by LSU in 2005.
He also took over a better program at Wisconsin than Miles did at OSU.

All I said is we needed someone who could develop talent...which is why Miles wasn't a fit IMO.
I know LSU has no one in the pro's right?

Bret Bielema took over Barry Alvarez's baby in Madison. Les Miles WAS Barry Alvarez in Stillwater.
That is what you gumps, mountain gumps, walmarks gumps, and Cam gumps don't get when you repeat this over and over.

I love the style of football Wisconsin plays on both sides of the ball so I am stoked.

I never said I love this hire anyway. We'll see if it grows on me later.
You would love it a lot more if it came with Bob Bostad, Paul Chryst, and Russell Wilson. Sadly, it does not.

I wonder what the fan base for Wisconsin's feelings are about his departure?
pissed off.

Miles also wasn't walking into a division that has won 4 out of the last 5 national championships, possibly 5 of the last 6. Just a tiny difference.

Nick Toon, John Clay, Montee Ball, James White, and the litany of offensive lineman they put in the pros.
Let's see what it looks like with a school that until recently swapped sides with its linemen like it was high school because of a dearth of talent.

I know LSU never had any success before saban right? Oh and Saban has been gone 7 years, we are still here..
Love to see your take on Bama when saban leaves, guess the new coach will be walking into a program saban already built as well. We will see how well he does with it.

I just don't feel it's humiliating or laugh worthy.
Bielema is a good coach; this thread is about "fit".

i don't whether he's a 'fit' or not. a couple of years down the road will answer that question. i do know that the current Razorback personnel is not built to run what Whisky does, or what it likes to do. that can change, but do Hog fans really want heavy doses of TE's, and between the tackle running after a couple of years of Mallet and Wilson?
curious who follows him from his coaching staff, and if he keeps Tim Horton around.

Seems like you've been wrong about everything about this coaching search...We got a GREAT coach IMO

I was responding to someone who called Bret Bielema a "Les Miles lite without the hardware". Well, he does have hardware and Les Miles did not have said hardware in 2005. It is not a indictment on Les Miles. He is one of the best in the game.

Of course they did, but he had been more than a decade. But all you'll see in my comments is "Nick Saban built what Les Miles had maintained". I wasn't saying that. But the fact is that LSU was in better shape in 2005 than Wisconsin has been at any point in its history.

It will be a tremendous foundation for the next coach. Just like in 2005 at LSU. Regardless, the next coach has to continue to run the program. LSU's success since Nick Saban left is because of Les Miles and no one lese.

I understand that. You still didn't get the point. Bielema was already at his 2005 LSU. Wisconsin's Saban was Alvarez. Which proves what I said, that you guys don't get it.
Les Miles was Alvarez at OSU
Gundy reaps
Saban and Dinardo set the table for Miles => Miles reaps.
Bielema was setup by Alvarez, no hardware. A spectacular couple of games against the Spartans though. Some great ACC qbs and Scott Tolzien. It will be interesting to see what he does.

To be fair, Gundy has said that Les helped get OSU where it is today. i think they were 3-8 when he took over.
