I don't think Manziel deserves it. He grades out as "incomplete" in my opinion. He didn't look Heisman-like against UF or LSU and he doesn't lead the nation in traditional QB stats. Let's see how next season plays out and see if Manziel is deserving and not a fluke.
Manziel's biggest supporters are Aggie homers and arse ached Bammers who will feel better knowing that their team lost to a Heisman trophy winner.
The Heisman Trophy mission statement stresses integrity. Getting arrested on multiple counts prior to the season does not equal integrity.

all heisman winners padded stats against shite teams
Of course, but most Heisman winners have played very well against the top teams on the schedule.
Cam Newtown's stats were LIGHT YEARS better than Manziel's stats against the top 3 teams faced.
Newton (vs LSU, Bama, South Carolina):
975 total yards, 12 total TDSs, 0 INTs
Manziel (vs LSU, Bama, Florida):
881 total yards, 3 total TDs, 3 INTs
But yeah, Manziel's performances against top teams are Heisman worthy.

i don't think anybody is saying he had a good game against LSU
he didn't have poor games against UF or Bama, though
and TDs are a function of opportunity and luck, often. manziel isn't used like cam/tebow was on the goaline. i made this same argument about vince young's 2005 season compared to both
3,000/1,000 is rare. it's only been done once before in a BCS conference (vince young). i mean the dude leads the SEC in rushing WITH an elite passing year. that's amazing

His one bad game was against LSU!
It amazes me that you expect a heisman type performance out of this kid against the #5 defense in the nation in his first career start. He played pretty damn well in it too for it being his first game.
Who would you consider heisman worthy then?

If voters shouldn't be allowed to knock him down a peg since he is only a freshman, then you can't use the excuse of being a freshman to explain away mediocre or poor performances. It can't work both ways.
Manziel should certainly be a candidate, but I wouldn't vote him #1.
It's a weak year, and that makes the voting tougher, but I'd vote it: Te'o, Manziel, Barner, Lee, Klein

Wow, I would have voted McCarron over Teo and Klein

In all truth, the only other player that has been as exciting and productive as Manziel is Marqise Lee.
Te'o for Heisman is the biggest fricking joke of all time.

This pretty much spot on imo.
