quote:No that was a helmet to helmet shot. Not legal, and the QB was making NO attempt to tackle.. Bama call.
That was a legal, if brutal hit.

Not surprising in the least that the SEC offices are chock full of Alabama graduates and lifetime Alabama residents. The best possible move they could make would be for the school presidents to vote to move the SEC offices to Nashville where it's less likely that Vandy is gonna try to cheat like Alabama does. I believe the head SEC official is also an Alabama grad. Check me on that but I think that's right. Go figure with the lack of penalties called on Alabama.

He is, but he's a pretty well-respected guy.

The Rant has no pull. Nothing will become of this. The conference office will tell LSU to go fly a kite year after year, and Alleva doesn't have the balls to do a thing about it. Dude is in over his head.

Again, what do you think he can do?

What is it that you would like or even think that Alleva can do about the schedule the SEC generates??

Where is a good investigative reporter when you need one? This would draw a lot of viewers to a news program, do you think?

It was certainly a dirty hit, but it's not strictly illegal. If it was anyone other than the QB getting blocked like that no one would even care.
BS. Murray was hardly walking, more like feathering his way around to nowhere in particular, and Dial launched himself into Murray. Targeting.
Danielson mentioned that the refs are trying to stop that play from happening, yet when it happens literally 10 feet in front of a ref who is watching it happen, nothing happens. Hmmm, funny you hear about all this, "we're putting a stop to helmet to helmet hits" yet they let this slide, particularly when they're staring right at it.
It was by far more blatant that the one that took place on McCarron earlier in the game, which was called. Happens against an Alabama player and it's called. Way worse and right in front of an official, happens to an opposing player, no call. Hmmmm.....

Why whine about this? Our team will be better next year and it'll be undisputed when we beat Bama, uga, and Florida. Geaux tigers.

Right. That's why we had to play Alabama twice last year.
We beat Oregon, West Virginia, Arkansas, Florida, Alabama, they beat Arkansas, Florida.
If everything were the same last season, the scores, the locations, only change the Nov. 5 winner. If Alabama would've won that game, you'd think we'd get a "do over?" Not a chance.
The SEC, the majority of "experts" on ESPN, all would say, you have to win the big games. That is your only chance until the following year. Something I've seen on here lately, regarding our last minute loss to Alabama this year.
It's strange when it only applies to one team in particular. Topic for another thread, I guess.

So who really thinks Ga. Beats LSU next year? Does not matter at all. Bama away, Ole miss away, Miiis St. away. Always make for interesting games. Even though Ga. is away. Kent State is coming to town.

Well, according to the SEC you are factually incorrect. They've already confirmed that it was indeed a penalty and should have been called
And by NCAA rules, Mr Dial will be sitting out the NC game.

All of this must stop with a playoff coming. The playoff will start at four teams, but that will only whet the appetite of the paying fan. It will certainly grow in time.
The SEC needs to clean up its politics soon.
This really gets to the heart of the matter. Appearance. Take officiating, for instance. The only rule within the SEC currently is that no official may be an alumnus of a school and officiate one of that school's games. Sounds good, right? But can an official with ties to one school not influence his alma mater's season by virtue of calls in a game not involving his team? Of course he can! Or even better...what about an official who, himself, is not an alumnus of a particular university, but is a life-long supporter (or as the NCAA would describe them...a booster) has a spouse that is an alumnus, kids who attend school there, etc. ZERO problems...he can officiate games with said university.
I'm not part of the conspiracy police...I don't really think there is one, though maybe I've being naive. But I have spent time with fellow humans, and I can state assuredly that we're all biased to one degree or another. Never more so than when it comes to something as heartfelt and emotional as college football allegiances.
I'd be perfectly happy to outsource officiating directly to the NCAA who could use floating, national crews the way the NFL does. In fact, I'd love to see a crew switched just prior to kick-off against BAMA in T-Town one time...I'd imagine a scene not unlike the courtroom scene at the end of The Untouchables.
Here endeth the lesson
