A lot of alligators in the rice fields and it is shallow in the middle. Alligators should be barely moving because the water temp is cold, but I have seen a bunch of people get stuck back there

Been fishing for gars/catfish. Buddies bowfish and destroy the gars back there. Haven't targeted bass.

report back when you go. I don't make it out there much in the fall/winter. I'd like to start if there is good reason

I used to duck hunt a few places off of Lake Rd all of the time and went back to the rice fields every now and then. Every time I have gone back there now, a WLF truck is sitting at the launch

Screw the rice field canals, head north on the river and fish the cuts on the left very close to the interstate. Fished rice canals 3 times. Very small fish and very few Everytime. Headed north and caught huge sacalait.

Fished a tourney with about 15 boats in that area about 10 years ago. Winning bag had one 14 inch bass. The other 14 boats did not boat a keeper fish.

You could give it a shot, it's not that far of a run up past beau chene. If they're not biting in the fields run up north

Is this area privately held, or is it public? I've seen quite a few ducks back in that area over the years.

Used to be private I believe. It was part of the Guste family property. Same piece of land as Guste Island condos.

Actually used to hunt a small pond about 50ft off of the road in the first turn. Hunted the low bridge fairly often too, and had a blind at the end of the slave ditch right past the low bridge. We were all over man

Didn't really matter to me. We just used to hunt where we wanted. I used to duck hunt in a pond by the shipyard in Madisonville a few times a week before school. I talked to a guy on here who used to lease the property south of 22 from the river to Mandeville High, and we snuck on there a couple of times a week. It was kind of like...I've been hunting here since I was a baby. I don't care whose property it is.

I wouldn't ever do that now though. Been in too much trouble and have too much on the line
