Where we really miss Payton.

You saw last nigh, that after the initial surge, the defense made the right adjustments and held up pretty well there after.
What I've notice this year is we suck at making offensive adjustments. We get stuck on some stupid shite every game (let's do a hard play action and look down the field over and over) and keep pounding away on it like a gamer on his Japanese pillow girlfriend. Would CSP leave Strief, who's been battling a groin injury, one on one with Abraham on a crucial third down in an empty back set? Probably not.

The other issue is that Sean and Drew are really a team. When you watch those behind the scenes videos it really seems like the put together in-game plans together and talk it out. Feels like Drew is out there on his own having to make all the decisions AND the throws and putting to much pressure on himself to solve everything. He needs his muse back.

3rd and 2, and nothing but deep routes. That blew my mind. Oh. Finally run a screen, and it's to Ivory? Not that it was a great throw anyways, but still.

I could have sworn Mike Martz was calling the plays.

I wholeheartedly agree. Offensive adjustments have been pretty non-existent while defensive adjustments have been pretty outstanding lately. It just baffles me how long it took for the offense to get going last night.
Then once we finally find a rhythm running with Pierre and get a FG, we all of a sudden go shotgun and PA pass the next drive.
I'm just really getting tired of all this "we absolutely have to stay committed to being balanced and the run game." When we actually did that, we've been able to put teams away. Now for whatever reason, we just can't stay with it. Brees acted like we were down 21 from the very start of the game.

So do you believe it's a playcalling issue?

That's only a part of it. Game planning and in game adjustments (within the plays you've selected for that game) are just not there.

I agree the in-game adjustments are just not happening like they should.

That's very apparent with how flat the offense usually looks coming out in the second half.

When you have the Head Coach working with the leader, our QB, you have the plays being adjusted with 2 eyes, and the 2 leader team working and adjusting constantly. With Vitt calling the shots, you don't have that 3rd set of eyes out watching to figure out what adjustments really need to be made, and bringing them to Payton.. There is just a whole lot lost when you lose such a dynamic Head Coach, it's just unfathomable, and there is no way we can understand this.
It's not the play calling, it's not the adjustments, it's just everything, you can see on the defense side of the ball, you have ALL of the parts to the motor now, and what's happening? They are improving 50000% every game, are making EXCELLENT adjustments, and are coming out playing like champs. Unfortunately on the Offensive side of the ball, we are seeing an engine without it's key part, the head coach, and we have an offense that is in dire need of a tune-up.

I said this plenty last night: you do everything you have to do to keep CSP. Empty the piggy bank. Sell the state of Louisiana. Heck. I'd be willing to part with Ingram.......

With the way Ivory was pounding the ball last night, this x 1,000, was amazing seeing him run.

As upset as I was about Brees performance last night, I just think we are finally seeing the scales fall off for him not having his muse this season.. Brees without Payton is just an empty shell, and the last 12 weeks of football has finally taken it's toll on the guy, I can't wait to have CSP back.

Ivory didn't have shite on Thomas last night.
And what the hell is wrong with Ingram? Sometimes he looks good, and other times he looks like a baby deer that doesn't know how to use it's limbs.

Screw Ivory. I like the guy, but I'm all for PT getting more of a featured role. He's earned it.

meh, Ivory, PT, Sproles, they are all extremely good. Ingram is slowly fading into scarcity, screw him and trade him, and get us some good OL while we are at it!

That slip up on the screen and sure TD by Ingram made me groan. That set him back another 3 years with this fan base.

Thomas proved to be the hot hand, and we should have given him the ball more
Sometimes it's ivory, others ingram, but last night it was Thomas and Carmichael ignored that
