we have men's golf, swimming etc. baseball gets screwed too

But if you leave preconceptions aside and just look at the data, you will find that the real enemy of men's sports isn't Title IX. It's NCAA scholarship limits.

A lot of it is money and scholarships rather then title ix. It really is moreso an excuse
Edit: But I saved one of mullins shots in high my freshman year even though jesuit went on to beat us 5-0
Jason gary or whatever his name is also won it in 2005. Hes from gonzalez and went to st. Amant

If there was no title 9, would lsu have a men's soccer team yes/no
Posted on 11/29/12 at 6:35 pm to Jumbeauxlaya
without killing men's golf (4.5 schollys) swimming (9.9) or tennis (4.5) - no.

So you're telling me the NCAA has a limit on MEN's scholarships? Because otherwise that makes zero sense

Way too much Jesuit praise up in this thread.
But seriously congrats to Mullins, it's nice to see LA soccer can put at some high level talent.

No doubt the best high school player Louisiana has produced in a while. Fred Parker and Robert Iledare were both really good too though.

I've got Joe Alleva on record saying the most popular sport LSU has in demand that they don't implement is men's soccer.
It's number 4 in demand behind the big 3 men's sports...even more in demand than women's hoops.
He said he would put men's soccer in in a heart beat if not for title 9.

Played on a summer league 7v7 team with Fred. He was sick. Robert was really good too but never did much with that McKinley team. Anyone know what they're up to? I know Robert is playing in college at Purdue or somewhere like that.

Robert is at Pittsburg, I'm not sure how well he's doing but one of his best friends played over the summer with me and told me that he was set to start for them this year.
I'm not sure about Fred, I know some guys that played with him at Tara, but no one has heard from him since he graduated.

Pat is a buddy of mine. Hope he wins.

LSU will never have a men's team.

That would be Mullin's senior year which he didn't play. They went undefeated his junior year soooooo....

For him to be such a good buddy of yours you seem to know very little about him...he was a Sophomore in 2008 and they did not go undefeated because they got beat in the semi-finals 1-0 by Woodlawn. Jesuit went undefeated the NEXT season, but Pat did't play because he was doing ODP and US farm league stuff.

Blue Jays Stumble in Semi-final Round to Woodlawn, 1-0

The Blue Jay varsity soccer team’s campaign through the LHSAA playoffs ended Saturday afternoon at Bertolino in the semifinal round against the Woodlawn Panthers, 1-0.
Jesuit had many looks at the goal; however, none of their shots found the mark. Late in the second half, Woodlawn scored the only goal of the game and kept the Jays scoreless with the remaining time in regulation play.

Screw the Mullins family, IMO

I remember yalls crazy miracle run to state that year. The two twins on yalls team carried them a long long way
Edit: I don't understand why lsu doesn't drop a sport for soccer. They could recruit a very successful squad with players from the south. Many of the top players in LA would have prefered lsu over their respective schools.

Mainly Marcus. People forget that our keeper, Sterling Perryman, was the MVP of the tournament though. Without him we wouldn't have gone that far.

It's all about scholarships. I agree that we would have a good team though. 3 guys that I played club with all moved to Texas so that they would have a better shot at playing in college and all 3 are on college teams right now. If we could have a legit program in Louisiana we would be very competitive.

My team beat Woodlawn that year like 3-1, then we choked out of the playoffs in the 2nd rd...
ETA: No surprise, we always played down to competition...
