and turned the Red Algae down (or his wife made him), then of course Alabama hired Saban after that.
If Rich Rod had taken the job, would LSU Sabanatic fans still feel the need for Saban and hate Coach Miles?
Discuss.

can you imagine alabama running rodriguez's preferred 3-3-5 defense? ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

who knows. i hate saban for the way he left lsu. imo, he used us and it worked for him. he had some really bad games here and he fricked us on our last recruiting class when he knew he was gone. however, it seems that many LSU fans forget all of the bad about saban and remember that he won an NC. they transpose the saban at LSU to the current saban. saban is a far better coach right now than he was at LSU. after the NC at LSU, saban tanked and was not interested in LSU football. it blows my mind that people forget this.

Yep. Also remember that Tebow seriously considered playing for Shula. He had some decent teams, and with Superman who knows how long Shula hangs on, making it very unlikely the timing would've been right for Saban to go there.

We'd all be swimming in crystal footballs and kissing Miles' hat. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbow.gif)

We'd have 2 more NCs had they hired RR

I've always wondered if RR turned them down or once Bama found out Saban had interest they pulled the rug out from Rich. I just can't buy he wanted to stay in WVU then, but would later bolt for UM.
Rod singing some Josh Grobin to Bama boosters is a funny mage though

Most likely Les would've gone to Mich and we would've had Saban back.
frick.

I love stuff like this, and I'll be honest, it just another factor that pisses me off about Alabama; they made a bonehead move of firing Shula assuming it would work out, got rejected several times and stumbled on Saban. I wouldn't hate them if they were not sucessful.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Spurned again, Alabama is resuming its latest search for a football coach.
This time it was West Virginia's Rich Rodriguez saying no thanks Friday to the program still yearning for a leader to steer it back to the powerhouse days of Bear Bryant.
And worried Alabama fans like student Jennifer Winton were left to wonder: "Who are we going to get now?"
It's the $12 million question. Rodriguez opted to remain at his alma mater instead of taking the reported six-year, $12 million offer from Alabama that would have nearly doubled his previous deal.
