Because he brings the competition down to our level and beats them with experience.

I've been following LSU football since the 60's so I certainly know how good we have it. Not arguing that one bit. The question is whether we could have it even better. It seems to a lot of people that despite how good the team is, they still underachieve on occasion. I'm glad Les is staying. If you asked me who I'd replace him with, I'm not sure I could give you an answer. I like him personally from what I know about him, he has kept us out of major trouble with the NCAA, he puts good and sometimes great teams on the field and we are usually competitive. However, I'm not really too happy that he got a raise and an extension. You could argue he should have gotten a raise last year so maybe this one is just making up for that. It feels almost like blackmail. You don't give your coach a pay raise when he goes to the BCS Championship but you give him one when you think he might be looking elsewhere? What kind of message does that send? Nevertheless, I don't blame Miles for any of this. I think the problem lies with Alleva.

Mostly agree.
I wish sunshiners could understand this. I'm happy with 10-2 if we have a 10-2 team. Our team is not a 10-2 team. We're a 14-0 team. Look at our talent. We're underachieving.

After all these years that he has been LSU's coach, I still can't decide if I like him or not.

Navy is spot on, perfect!
I think we win a lot of games on talent alone, not coaching. So, a statement a guy said to me just this past Sun was, we were beating Bama in all phases with our talent, then the "Coach" meddled in & lost the game. Think about that for a minute.

If you win on talent alone Texas, Fla., and USC would be awesome very year.

I remember the Dinardo days and I know how good of a coach Miles is...

But a Chick-Fil-A Bowl appearance w/ this talent doesn't warrant a raise IMO

Agree.

Bama blew Auburn out of stadium

To be fair ... the Barn team that Bama played had long ago given up. We played them when they still had hope.

Monroe should have beaten them, but we barely do, really??

Stuff happens ... case in point ... how does UF manhandle us in the 2nd half ... and somehow, ULL goes into the Swamp and damn near beats the Gators? Doesn't mean that ULL would have a prayer of beating LSU.

We fans r tired of 5 predictable plays on offense every game.

Not sure about the number there ... but I do get tired of plays on 3rd and 9 that have no shot of getting us the first down. And, settling for FGs in the red zone have killed us.

How many 1st round picks has Les developed on the offensive side of the ball since he has been here? How many defensive? It isnt even close!

That's part of my frustration but it's not even really about the W/L record. Miles plays a style that wins a lot of games against inferior competition. It's safe and usually prevents us from beating ourselves. We win a lot of games even when the talent level is mediocre (see 2008-2010). However when up against very good competition, it doesn't seem to stack up as well. Also I think his in-game decisions are below average at best. I honestly don't like second-guessing coaches because they know tons more than I do about football and they know the players and see them every day in practice. But man, some of the things Les does just make you shake your head sometimes.

You got me there. Arky being arky is all I've got.

Never liked playing the day after Thanksgiving ... though I enjoy having that game to watch on a Friday.

I think Arky took some stuff that Ole Miss showed to hurt us ... and, on top of that, our secondary got torched.

In the end ... I defer to wins and losses. Whether luck or talent or skill or whatever ... somehow, lester wins games, a lot of them.

I see that temperament on both sides. I just wish the whole posi/nega thing would vanish. Very, very few people here are truly as negative as they are portrayed. I'm talking to the point of rooting against the team. I couldn't root against LSU if I tried. So to get accused of hating LSU because of a criticism I made about the coach gets me a little stabby.

Wrong.

This was a 9-3 team. At the end of the season, I can honestly say that aTm, Bama, and UF had better teams than LSU.

Some people just can't accept that this team was never better than last year's. You don't lose that many starters from attrition, then several more from injuries, and get better. You don't.

Did 2012 LSU overachieve? Absolutely not.

LSU has NEVER had it better. So I'm holding out for some really groundbreaking shite here. I'll wait...
So you are saying that in all aspects of the team LSU could not be more productive. I have seen better offenses under the helm of Dinardo, Hallman, Archer etc.... with a 1/3 of the talent level that has been more productive in scoring points in a game.

Defense and special teams are about the only high points of consistency until the back end of the season approaches, then they are physically and emotionally worn out keep the Tigers in National Championship contention.

Offensively, Miles side of the ball is pitiful and has been since he has arrived at LSU. We blame offensive coordinators, receiver coaches, tighten end coaches, QB coaches, and o-line coaches year after year for the offensive lack of productivity. Yet the somehow we glorify an oddball we call head coach as being the best LSU has ever had. In all honesty the best that LSU could do is lock Les Miles in a locker room locker until the game is over and i guareentee that "I don't think some of you know how a little better it could be" because the Mad Hatter could not screw up sustaining drives to settle for field goals.
