Pink Floyd is my favorite band of all time and its not even close. I wish I could have seen their tour back in '94. What about them do you not like?

You definitely are, but most of us don't "get" certain types of music. For me, it's country (Texas/Nashville) and rap.

like i said, i actually like classic rock, but these threads are simply retarded. you can't explain why you like a genre or act of music, that's not how it works

OP, Classic rock(60's-70's) defines a time that most of us younger peeps wish we could live it. It is music that our parents played when we were driving to school or on a vacation. Life was good in that era and that music ties directly to the good.
However, what is played on the radio is not a indication of the extreme depth the classic rock genre has.
Classic rock era gave birth to so many other aspects of the music we all have come to know and love today.

I actually despise the term "classic rock". Absolutely hate it. It's such a give up. It's like saying "I only like music that's already been codified by other people as being good."
I like rock n roll. Doesn't matter from when. I love Buddy Holly, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, the Pixies, and Pavement. There is no classic rock. Just rock.

eh, i consider classic rock music from the 60's/70's. which happens to be the music I grew up with. I'm sure others have other definitions.but, that's basically what it means to me. And it will ALWAYS be my favorite.

modern classic rock radio stations have ruined the vast majorite of that genre for me.
Not counting the warehouse playing 98.5 WYLD every single day for six years, I havent listened to the radio since Rod Ryan and 106.7 was the best radio station around.

Go into music with expectations or looking for something and you will never find it.
I like that philosophy
I know that growing up listening to classic rock radio, it's easy to get burned out on some of the same popular songs over and over again, especially if you didn't grow up with that music "as it happened"
I started listening to music in the 80's, so my exposure to Led Zep, the Rolling Stones, The Doors, etc came through classic rock stations, that would run their hit songs into the ground.
Once I got older, I had more opportunities to listen to whole albums as a complete body of work, instead of just a few singles on the radio.
I wish I could have had the opportunity to listen to Led Zeppelin IV when it was released, instead of being exposed to the hit songs over-and-over again out of context on the radio (I'm looking at you, 92.3 WCKW!)

106.7 the end was good... its like once we hit 2000 Radio gave up trying to play us new tunes. Classic rock radio is the same way I would agree.
OP ABB cannot be the only classic rock band... I am sure you have to have one more band you like eyyy?

I never could get into Pink Floyd. I love Another Brick in the Wall but the other songs I have listened to are just too psychedelic for my taste.

My two least favorite PF songs are Brick in the Wall and Money.
One of my favorite groups, but don't care for those two songs.

This is why my thread for Top 10 Favorite Rock Bands is just that...for ALL rock, not any one particular flavor variety.

same reason shitty 80s music is popular, people crave the familiar.
Old people grew up listening to it, and then they listened to it when their kids were growing up and so everybody finds it acceptable. the reality is people like repetition. They like to know the words to the songs, so they can sing along.
Thus classic rock being popular.
Some classic rock is great and some of its fricking horrible. And really bands like led zep, beatles, stones, the who are closer to oldies than they are to classic rock.

Part of the reason this happens is that those are the only two PF songs most people ever hear.
Several people have commented about the lack of variety on "classic rock" stations. This is where the problem lies. You have to actually listen to whole albums to get a feel for the greatness that is there. The really good stuff rarely gets played on the radio. According to most classic rock stations, Grand Funk RR only recorded one song (American Band).

I'll add my .02 into the Floyd discussion
Pink Floyd is in my top 5, but "Money" is a song that makes me want to bang my head against a brick wall. It's the only song I skip on Dark Side of the Moon. I flat out don't like the song.
