The smaller 1911s are notoriously undependable. You can't say that about a Glock. I don't know if the SA XDm is better than a Glock, but I do know that the SA has made Glock redesign their pistols in an attempt to improve the pistol. The Guide Rod spring and the replaceable backstraps are SA inspired for certain.
People seem to forget that Glock revolutionized the Semi Auto pistol. Everyone has been chasing Glock since 1987, and Springfield makes a good product (technically a Glock with a grip safety).

Yes, I am a Glock homer, but I've stated several times that there are other good guns out there. I just don't think the XD is anywhere near being the best 500-700 gun on the market...
