One of the main clinical signs to help determine if snake bite is severe pain at site
I don't think hunting dogs feel pain or hunger. I saw a man shoot the back leg damn near clean off of his own beagle and the dog never stopped chasing the rabbit he was on until I killed the rabbit. Then a beagle with a shot off foot came and tried to take the rabbit from me.

Hounds definitely seem to be numb for pain. Our walkers get snake bit all the time and don't really give a damn.
