Not sure why people expected the team to be good this year.

strong difference between expecting the team to be good and expecting the team to be competitive.

the level-headed on here, which is the vast majority, were hoping for 30-35 wins and to be competitive. the latter has not been happening the past few games.

the biggest problem is health right now. a healthy hornets squad is competitive. the product on the floor right now is not.

gordon or no gordon, they should compete better than they have for the last 3-5 games

I thought (and still do think) this hornets squad could shock a lot of the nba and be much better than pre-season expectations. This is 100% premised on Gordon coming back and other injuries held to a minimum. If Gordon remains a question mark for an extended period and others are frequently fighting nagging injuries, then we will suck. The west is absolutely staaaaaaaaacccckkkkeeedddd this year, so a playoff berth is possible but unlikely. If we were in the east, I'd say playoffs are more likely than not.

This team is still ridiculously young and we essentially have an all new staring lineup. Tough to have great chemistry after playing just 9 games with a basically all-new roster.

Only 3 games have been bad- Philadelphia, OKC, and NYK. 2 of those teams are very very good.

A very young team with rookies or first time starters making up most of the squad is going to be up and down. No serious veteran presence will lead to ups and downs.
