Do you still feel that VT isn't the most viable college in the DC Market? Last season you were hating on them and that argument.

The area does have tons of alumni, thing is the school is 5 hours away while Maryland is 30mins from DC. Push come to shove if both teams are worth a shite Maryland would get way more coverage. The Washington Post when Maryland is good in hoops is just redic.

Hell not every VT football game is even on in the DC area. Maryland is.

Hell, College Park is inside the Beltway. It has a Metro stop. It's not 30 minutes away... it is IN DC for all intents and purposes.

Does Maryland have a huge fanbase? For hoops, yes, but maybe not as much for football. But that doesn't matter. DC is a transient town with a lot of transplants. And they carry with them their allegiances to their alma maters. And a lot of those alma mater are Big Ten schools. ACC fans, by and large, don't care about football. But now, UMD's ratings are going to go up because Big Ten fans DO care and they want to watch their team. Where do people think Penn St and Ohio St grads go?

The Wizards have sold tickets based on their opponents for years. Now UMD can do the same.
