Why don't you look at our all time record with them it might surprise you.

Not if you know anything about Arky's and A&M's history. If you did you would know at one point when it was in the SWC, Arky was one of the most relevant programs in the state of Texas and often got second pick at the talent in the state. During most of that time A&M was a small military school.

Hence a lopsided all-time record that won't be reflective of the future as A&M is now a major power in Texas and Texas kids don't give a shite about Arky.

This hire is important to us for the future of our program.

Hires always are. The one thing that the "next year we might be good" theory doesn't acknolwedge is that your last coach did poor with recruiting which holds back the short term potential of your next coach.

A&M's rise this year was because Sherman during his time here out recruited Petrino and many other coaches in the SEC. He averaged top 25 classes with a strong emphasis on the offensive line and so we have something to build on. But even we know that isn't enough - you need top 10 classes to compete in the SEC and that is what I expect from Sumlin in the next two years.

Meanwhile apparently Arky fans would be ecstatic with a Sherman-level top 25 class.

If Petrino was here we would be going to a bowl and probably would have beaten TAMU again this year.

I think not. He barely beat A&M last year, and that A&M team had worse conditioning and worse defensive play than this year's team. I think Sumlin beats him this year if he was around.

But the point is he is not, and he didn't leave much for the next coach. In fact he left so little that the next coach would most logically need to take a step back (to get players for his system since all of Arky's players are fit for Petrino's crazy system) before a step forward can happen.

In that time A&M will just keep getting better, putting Arky further in the rear view mirror.

my God the aggies can be a revolting bunch when they win a few games.

Here are the facts about Arkansas and TAMU

1) we own the head-to-head by a large margin
2) we are generally rated just about even in all- time rankings
3) you have ALWAYS had potential. You have NEVER ascended into the upper echelon of college fb. We haven't either
4) Kudos on Manziel. Without him, you are a much more pedestrian team. Florida couldn't replace Tebow, Auburn couldn't replace Cam, we couldn't replace DMac, but you Ags...you'll have no problem performing maintaining your offensive fire power. I think this is BS
5) Bringing TAMU into the SEC HAS boosted our recruiting presence in Texas. We should continue to recruit well enough to keep pace with you.
6) Is Chizik anywhere near the best coach in the SEC? He won a NC, recruits like a MFer, and is about to lose his job. Did it occur to you that the same could happen to Sumlin, or is he now the best coach in the SEC based upon one season?
7) Is there any potential at all that we could land a better coach than Sumlin? What if we pull Gundy, or Patterson, or Petersen? Still think you'll own us if we get a better coach than Sumlin?

In short, this place is much happier when the ags and the hogs get along. We are very similar.

Congrats on the great season. I mean it. I'm just tired of the incessant braying of superiority now emanating from the mouths of many aggies.
