You can also add University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill list. Heck they even call themselves Carolina

University of Louisiana at Lafayette is the formal and official name of the university. Please use this name in all first references.
UL Lafayette is acceptable for second reference.

Why not the University Of America?
Posted on 11/11/12 at 8:38 pm to SaintCajun
FWIW, Nebraska DOES refer to itself as The University of Nebraska - Lincoln; however, most media simply refer to it as the University of Nebraska.

FWIW IDGAF what they call themselves. The University of Ohio is still just as much trash as they would be if they went by some other name. You can't force yourself into relevance via your name.

it shocks me how this topic always goes to like 10 pages. All of you people are fricking stupid. Go frick yourselves

You do realize that is for the media, last I checked Charles Tillman isn't part of the media.

I don't understand why UL has to go by their "full name" but any other college can abbreviate their names
Again...
ULM still denotes the @Monroe with the "M"
UAB still denotes the @Birmingham with the "B"
AUM still denotes the @Montogmery with the "M"
UNC-A still denotes the @Asheville with the "A"
THE ONLY University with an "at location" designation that tries to hide that fact is UL-Lafayette.

Ok? LSU's formal name is LSUAM@BR yet they go by LSU .....why can't we go by UL

You still haven't answered my question. Why does LSU get to abbreviate their name
