I don't think people are truly comprehending how much area 1000 acres is. If its all wooded, that's a ton of land.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen on this board not posted by the hiking hippie.
I didn't say I felt that way, I was using that other guys logic. I've seen them swim a hundred yards or so from a sandbar in the MS river like it was nothing. I've also seen them clear canals in milliseconds.

Once a year i get to hunt on a 5,000 acre high fence place. Trust me when i say its not as easy as you think to kill a deer. I've hunted days without seeing a single buck. I have been fortunate to kill 4 really nice deer the past couple of years with my bow. I still love hunting my 800 acres in St. Francisville just as much, even though i haven't killed a deer there in two years

I have a freind that has 200 acres HF. He got the land amd didnt want to fence it but it boardered public land and he couldnt keep decent deer. He made the jump and since has bought some studs and they have names and shite. Not my cup of tea but its his money not mine and when invited I go. Still havent shot one there though. I go sit and watch his pets and eat good and drink and enjoy camping with freinds. I might shoot one one day but will prob wait til we get rid of some more does to do it.
He has spent big bucks on the place and he took a hit this year. His herd got bluetongue disease and theyve found 22 dead and hes expecting that many more. He had culled most of the native deer before he started buying and bringing in deer and they dont have the immunities they need to survive it so he will be starting over and loosing big bucks (dollars and deer).
Think he regrets culling most all and bringing in the deer now instead of trying to cull his worst and improve the genes he had already.

My uncle has a 10,000 acre ranch that is high fenced. I'd say 10,000 acres is enough to where you still need to actually hunt the deer
That figures out to about 16.6 square MILES of fenced in property. That's a LOT of area. Wonder how much it cost to do that? When yall talk about "high fence", just how "high" is the fence?

Since you replied to me, I will answer. I wasnt hating, I could careless what you do with your money. And I dont own a feeder either. I hunt public land. I have property that borders some public land that is very hard for others to get too so I have it basically to myself and i hunt with no feed.

Whats the highest-scoring whitetail ever, including non-free range deer?

The Ranches in South TX with O&G Leases on them can easily pay for the High Fences. About Eight feet are what I usually see. Some people I know fence in one side at a time over a period of years as well. It is not too hard if you are leasing it out.

Most of the ranches around us were high fenced before they came in and leased/drilled our area. And yes, the fences are 8 feet...I have heard some people say a pressured whitetail can actually jump it but i'm not so sure.

I would have no desire to shoot anything like that.

Not sure what shooting a science project would do for me.

Yeah, that's fricking stupid and pretty much torture for the deer.
