The way he stood tall and calm delivering darts on a rope with lbers coming unblocked is something I rarely see ANY qb do, much less an lsu qb. He was delivering milliseconds before getting pummeled. This is something JJ (would run) JL (get scared) would never do, much less any of our past qb's JR would take the sack and Flynn would either run or throw it away. I have yet to see a qb burn a saban blitz like mett did Saturday. He was on fire for real

Folks this here is a nfl qb.

kinda funny that after UF everyone said he is worst than JJ and now he's better than Mccarron he's got talent but lets pull the reigns back a bit and see what he does the rest of the season before we crown him NFL caliber

He is NFL caliber, but he is definitely not NFL ready.

Screw you chief. I saw it with my own eyes. I know what he is CAPABLE of. Potential is strong with this one.

Unbelievable is what I was thinking in the stands. If he had been doing it all year I would have thought impressive.

JR would take the sack

You mean the JR who set the LSU Yardage, TD and efficiency record? The JR who defensive lineman bounced off before he throws and completes a strike 50 yards down field? Is that the JR you are talking about? Surely you jest.

Jamarcus Russell couldn't get sacked by a dump truck while he played at LSU.

Truthfully he reminds me ALOT like jrock. With the pressure mett was getting I think jr would have taken some sacks. Just my opinion, don't care about yours like you don't care about mine.

jamarcus wasn't exactly easy to bring down. not to mention he was quite mobile for a guy his size. think tennessee 2006.

a story of two halves. in the first half he was the same ole qb; overthrowing wr's, etc. but in the second half something happened. i think the game slowed down a bit for him and he trusted his OL and showed us what he is. he grew up. this is the best news i've had for LSU since ourd NC. really. we have suffered at the qb postion.

Very impressive and I think with the confidence gained from his last game, he becomes the QB that we all thought he would be.

I seen basically the same QB in both halves and in alot of other games. Sure he has had his WTF moments, but the difference in this game was the time he had in the pocket and the receivers catching the ball esp in the second half. First half the recievers looked the same (dropping catchable balls)but IMO the receivers came out with swag in the 2nd half and held onto the ball and that can only help the QB look sooooo much better. Mett however was spot on and tough as nails.

Well... Shouldn't reality and facts be a part of the discussion. Or are we operating in your dream world as you would like to see the world.

JR's junior year at LSU he was sacked 16 times in 13 games, an average of 1.2 sacks per game. Mett has been sacked 21 times in 9 games, an average of 2.3 sacks per game, more than a sack a game more. He was sacked 3 times in the Bama game that you insist JR would have been sacked in.

JR had much more escapability than Mett. JR has a quicker release than Mett. JR had less sacks than Mett.

I thought Mett performed sensationally in the game and posted on here to that effect. I feel the future looks extremely bright with Mett at the helm. I am excited about the possibilities. However, with the ball and 55 seconds left, I would prefer JR who had 8 comeback wins during his career. His NFL career notwithstanding, JR had a great career at LSU. One that will be hard to top. We can agree that we both would like to see Mett do so. But it hasn't happened yet.

He wasn't helped in that half by 3 or 4 dropped passes.
