We need our weapon back. His foot can turn TDs into FGs, something we will need to win on 11/3.

Anyone know ?

Not sure what's going on that is causing Wing's sophomore slump. Seems like a case of a guy reading too many of his own news clippings and getting the big head. Hopefully his subpar performances have humbled him and he regains focus.

I thought I had read a week or so ago that he was battling a hip issue. Anyway, hoping the week off brings him around.

I asked him on campus and he just told me he just needed a "Fosta".

Everytime he boots it I am waiting for that perfect punt, but it is just not falling his way this year.
And the shanks do not help....

Did he always kick left footed last year? Seemed like he sometimes kicked with his right last year...not sure if it was for the lo.g kicks or shorter....but this year he missed the N.Tx game and has been 100% left footed since, I believe.

10 punts, 45 yd average last week. Just no getting the ball to check up like last year, also misses Matthieu and brooks.

Actually, Wing's stats are not too different from last year. Right now he is ranked 13th in the nation, with an average of 44.1 yards per punt. (The leader has 47.94 YPP.) Last year, he finished the season in 11th place, with an average of 44.37 PP, while the leader averaged 47.04 YPP. Doesn't look like much of a "sophomore slump" to me. In fact, if you take out those two bad punts against SC, he would probably be ahead of last year's average.

The lingering effects of that leg injury might be affecting his accuracy and his touch (and maybe his hang time). He certainly hasn't had as many punts drop in at the 5-10 yd. line as we saw last season. But this also just might be just the law of averages catching up to him a bit.

Aggie beside me at the game asked before the first punt " How good is your punter?" Me- great last year, this year not so much.
