It should be ND they play a much tougher schedule. But I am 100% sure LSU would get the nod and it probable wouldn't even be close.

not really. maybe statistically but who are their tough games?

OU and USC. All the others are pretty mediocre this year.

LSU plays Bama, USC, UF twice or UF and UGA.

No. Just no. This "Notre Dame's schedule is ridiculously tough" meme must stop. It's a very good schedule, but it's not as tough as people make it out to be. There's a lot of Big Ten and ACC teams on there and if you haven't noticed, those conferences are kid of terrible this year.

If LSU wins out, they will have beaten Alabama, Florida, USCe, State, and A&M. That's five top 25 teams, maybe three top 10 teams, and likely two top 5 teams. That's an amazing schedule. Notre Dame doesn't get in because Navy is better than Towson. Who cares?

Notre Dame will have played OU, USC, Stanford, Michigan, and BYU as their best 5 games. Yes, the bottom half of ND's schedule is tougher, but frankly, I don't care that Boston College is tougher than North Texas (though that can be disputed, BC is pretty awful). Both are traffic cones. You don't get brownie points for having better rent a wins. What matters is the upper echelon games, as those present the biggest chance for defeat.
