Yes, we have the best DL in the country....for a 4-3 defense. Not for a 3-4 defense, which is what ND runs. Downs couldn't play NT in a 3-4 and handle the zero technique. Mingo and Montgomery could not play DE in a 3-4 and control 2 gaps against an OT.

Apples to oranges.

DE: Stephon Tuitt 6-6, 303
DE: Lewis Moore 6-4, 306

LSU's DL (4-3):
DT: Freak 6-3, 294
DT: Downs 6-1, 287
DE: Mingo 6-5, 240
DE: Montgomery 6-4, 260

Alabama recruits a similar profile for its DL as ND does. LSU's is completely different from both. C'mon people, if you don't understand this, then you don't know enough about either team.
