Florida only had 180 yards or so total against South Carolina.. How many did we have again? Oh that's right 400+ total offense.. Against a very good SC defense.

Haha. Florida was too busy scoring from the 20 all game

Worst LSU offense I've ever seen. TagaMett ain't got it. Period. He's not one bit better than he was against unt.

You may be correct. Of course this must have something to do with coaching or lack thereof. Looking around the SEC, I see most schools have had much more production from the QB position that LSU for years. One could say that despite this huge weakness, LSU still wins and one would be correct. But LSU does not win NC games...

What makes you think Johnny Footbaw would be any better than Mettenberger in this offense? He's been impressive because he's in a creative offensive system that suits his talents (mobility and decision making). Put him in our 1970's Michigan offense behind suspect pass protection and I don't think he makes much of a difference.

The problem with the drinking water and good passers in B.R. Is Les Miles

Florida didn't exactly light it up against a&m and they won. Does this mean Florida should be concerned since they didn't put up 70 on a&m?

Actually yes. If Florida wants to win a NC the offense had to improve. I'm not sure it has, which is why no one expects UF to win it all.

hmmmmm, just a little contradicting.

Not contradictory at all. He says they don't get open so much as one would hope. That means they o get open some. On those occasions Mett misses them a lot. Get it?

The OP never complained about the record....simply that the passing offense is really bad and if you can't see this, you don't know football!!!!

Well, maybe the fact that in 7 games he has played head and shoulders above any QB from LSU for many years. Aside from that, I have nothing...

the most ignorant statement of the day. johnny football 3 ints, mett ZERO. difference in the game. we won because manziel "failed" not miles.

i'm just going to say right now that ZM has a better shot at qbing a NC team than johnny football. yea, the guy is uber elusive and his system allows for some short passing success. but you may have noticed that both florida and lsu squelched that offense and they LOST both games. relying on JFF to win the game for you is not the way to win NC's. they are wasting one hell of a good OL and RB's. THEY DO NOT AWARD ANY POINTS FOR YARDS GAINED AND SACKS AVOIDED.

quote:

A fullback belly play on third and two gets stuffed, a movie LSU fans have seen frequently over the past couple of years. CLM appears to put little faith in the pass when it must work.

but our fans FAIL TO REMEMBER THE FIRST DOWNS WE'VE MADE BY RUNNING THE BALL. all many remember are the times it doesn't work. got any stats? i'll bet it works much more than it doesn't. 3rd and 2 ain't a passing down for LSU. and i agree miles doesn't have faith in our passing game. do you blame him?

quote:

So, CLM has had 9 months to sort this out. All indicators are that he has not in the least made any progress in this area.

agreed. it is very disheartening to all of us and i'm sure it's esp. disheartening to the coaches and players. it's not like they aren't working on it. i'm not sure what you mean when you say "sort this out" but i'm damn glad miles didn't decide to switch to the spread offense over the last 9 months. as it stands, this team would be a great team if the passing game comes around. that's it. no more, no less. no magic. we have to work with the players we have.

I think it's primarily a recruiting problem. Every talented QB we've recruited had serious character problems.

Perrilloux: kicked off the team
Lee: unusually afraid of contact
Jefferson:: egomaniac, Shady's incident, appeared to never accept responsibility
Mett kicked off Georgia's team. I was warning ranters before the year that these character problems were material

The other QBs were not highly recruited.

Maybe it's something in the Baton Rouge drinking water that inhibits QB development and execution.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Really great point that I had not previously considered. Must check the drinking water. The STAFF has no control over that...
Guys, I think you are to something.

CLM gets a great big F for bringing in and bringing along QBs. It may be the ultimate reason for, er, well....

So what do you think it will take for Coach Miles to hire a good offensive coordinator that he will let run the offense? Seems like this is part of the problem.
