Traffic to A&M

With all of the wrecks and interstate closures, is there anything I should do differently when traveling to A&M? Which route should I take to avoid traffic?

Depending on when you hit Houston, 290 is a beast and the traffic sucks worse than Auburn. Take the hov if you can if you go 290.

If you're in BR, I'd take I-110 to US-190 to Opelousas then I-49 south to Laffy and get back on I-10 there.

short cut - when u get to beaumont go to conroe, Tx then to aggie land - this avoids going thru houston

Also, if traveling all the way thru Houston, I-10 at the Grand Parkway(exit 743) will be closed in both directions from 9PM Friday until 5AM Monday.

Beside the closure of I-10 on the Basin, once you get back on I-10, take it all the way to Beaumont. Take 287/69 north in Beaumont, drive 2 miles and take the Exit for Highway 105 West (right by the Academy Sports Store). Take 105 West to Cleveland, then Conroe, then Navasota. Then take Highway 6 North to College Station. It will save you 30 miles and it will be a lot faster than going through Houston, especially between 3 - 7 on a Friday afternoon. If you have to go through Houston, take the Beltway around Houston, then pick up 290 to Highway 6 north. This is probably 30 minutes slower without traffic.

Hwy 105....Straight up Deliverance shite out there!
Beware Tigers! Beware!
And...it is a "short cut"... Unless you get stuck behind rebel flag waving drunk OR lumber hauler.
Two lane/no pass hwy at parts.

quote:I just came from Livonia back to BR. West-bound traffic is a NIGHTMARE. It's backed up for miles (maybe 5 miles by now) and very heavy after that all the way from Livonia to BR on 190. I don't know what it's like beyond Livonia (came down from Morganza).

I pity you fans driving west. Good luck.
