Go away. I'm not bashing Nas at all. Never would. But people arent going to forget about Eminem. Ever.

are you implying that people will forget about Nas? if so, these people have an awful taste in hip hop. Illmatic is the best album ever, I can't name one eminem album sans the 8 mile soundtrack.

LULZ on all these Eminem responses.

Nas is vastly superior to Marshall Mathers.

You can say this and that's fine

Sure, I'll accept this. I disagree, but I won't argue it.

You could make an argument that Wayne's old stuff at least made it a debate. But yea, as a whole, Slim Shady is way better than Wayne

Yes. I think so. Nas is a great rapper. There are a bunch of those.
Eminem is doing something that no one had done, or has done since. Be a great successful rapper, accepted in the rap community, with high selling records, appealing to both races, as a white guy. IMO, he is a legend and will never be forgotten. Nas is a genius and will be in the conversation for many when discussing GOAT for years to come, Eminem wont be in that discussion. But when you discuss rap, his name always comes up. He's a legend.

He is top 10 all-time IMO.

Nas is probably top 5 or 3.

Eminems lyrics are very, very good on some albums. He also writes catchier songs. Sometimes a lyricist has great lyrics, but the song isn't as pleasing to the ears. Eminem has had sooooooo many more hits than Nas. I think Nas is a better rapper/lyricist, but Eminem has dominated in popularity because he is more appealing to the masses. He knows how to write hits.

Having possibly the greatest beat maker of all time behind you certainly helps.

Yea it seems the "Legend" part of my question changes everything. It's fair to say Eminem appeals to the mainstream crowd more than Nas for 2 reasons. 1) He's still putting out decent music (and isn't 39 years old like Nas). 2) He's a good rapper who's white. That will certainly make him more appealing to mainstream listeners.

But I still believe that Nas is more of a legend because it's not just about who's more mainstream, it's about what they've accomplished. And while Eminem has accomplished some great things, Nas' work is more legendary among the more true rap fans. I guess it all depends on your personal definition of "legend"

FIFY

Nas is the answer. Best pure lyricist of all time. I like Eminem's flow more though.

Tier 1:

Nas, Pac, Rakim

Tier 2:

Biggie, Jay, Em

The rest

Come on, I'm not even a rap buff and I know this.
