If I understand this poster correct, this is his first college game ever.

this is not my first college football game. have been to plenty of san diego state games.

not trying to compare sdsu football to lsu football in any way here. they are on completely different ends of the college football world. which is precisely the reason we are coming to baton rouge.

i have been watching sec football on tv for years and want to see what it looks and feels like in person. i cant imagine there is a better place to experience this than a night game at death valley against alabama.

thank you to everyone for the information you are providing us. your input is just validating our decision to come here first.

dear God

I want you to remember one word for me...

debauchery

Youre going to experience it first hand 11/3. There will be a palpable, vitriolic hatred floating in the air. Surrounded by copious amounts of alcohol.

Gonna be a good time

let me give you a slightly different perspective on the level of insanity you will be seeing....

then i'll talk some more about Baton Rouge...

i watched last year's game at legends (the LSU bar in New York City)...people were securing tables at noon for a 8PM kickoff....at kickoff, the bar was filled with a line stretching down 33d street toward 5th Avenue....

now how does that translate....at 5PM on Friday afternoon, a line of RVs will start streaming into the lots on the south side of campus...at the same time, tent frames will start appearing all over campus...on Saturday morning, people will start cooking around 0600....there could be as many as 160,000 people coming to tailgate where the stadium only holds 93,000.....

Fri night dinner at Galatoire's (wear a jacket and make sure to sit downstairs). You will wait for a table and it's not cheap. There are many other great restaurants in New Orleans but this one is on Bourbon, it's old school New Orleans, the drinks are strong, and the atmosphere is 2nd to none. If you're open to different things, let the waiter tell you whats good. Will be lot's of LSU-Bama revelry in there on Fri night, and don't let needing to wear a jacket fool you. This place is fun.

Sat morning...screw breakfast, use whatever means necessary to end hangover, and get your arse to BR early. Be highly mobile, agile, and ready to eat, drink, and smell things you've never encountered before. As mentioned, let people know what y'all are up to and the fine people of Louisiana will make sure a good time is had. Band down the hill, in stadium at least 30 mins before kick, and get ready for some intense shite.

You could not have picked a better game to truly know why we're all nuts about our football down here. You will be more equipped than most to explain the phenomenon that is LSU, Bama, and the SEC to your friends back West.

I'm fired up for you and your wife! Have fun, ignore the token idiots, and take it all in! You may never see another one like it!

What part of San Diego are you from? My sister lives in Point Loma - she and some of her fiends are supposed to come in for the game, one was a lady golfer at LSU.

Do y'all have hotel reservations near campus Saturday night? Driving back to Nola would be hell.

One piece of advice: don't try to do everything. You'll run yourself ragged. Eat a nice dinner in New Orleans, have some drinks at highly recommended places (The Ritz, Monteleone, Pat O's, Lafitte's, Windsor Court, etc.). Get to BR early and just soak it all in. Don't hurry from place to place tying to see ALL the traditions.
