Anyone ever camped at Big Bend?

Anyone ever camped at Big Bend National Park in the winter before?

I have. If you don't mind being a little chilly it's really nice. Just remember though, building fires is prohibited. We didn't know that when we went - hey it was the early 90's and before Al gore invented the internet. Without a fire it got cold at night.

Beautiful park though!

Big Bend is wonderful. You basically have every kind of terrain and environment from high altitude forest to river valley to grassland prairie to desert. Amazing place but be prepared if you opt for outback camping.

Only the May; love the place. In the winter you may want to camp somewhere along the Rio Grande rather than Chisos Basin. The Basin is a lot prettier but it is also over 5,000 feet of elevation and it's shady. Down along the river it's more like 2,000 feet and much sunnier.
