LSU actions were entirely warranted. A state funded university should not disseminate images or communications explicitly or implicitly endorsing one religion.

P.S. The students in question are pussies for whining about the airburshing. They essentially got to be the poster boys for a fantastic home victory, and their response is to lament some painted f*cking crosses? Hypersensitive.

I don't care much about what LSU does to photos for its promotional use, but is this photo endorsing a religion?

At first glance, I see a few guys painted, cheering for their team. Only after the removal of the crosses did I notice it. Seems petty.

You are the one that seems hypersensitive! None said the others couldn't wear their beliefs on their person. How many cross necklaces do you think people wear to games. Should they be banned? They weren't hurting anyone by wearing this at all so what's the problem?

LSU's actions were not warranted. Disseminating an unretouched photo of this sort can in no way be interpreted as endorsing a religion. For example, if a Catholic priest happened to be in the background are you saying LSU is obligated to airbrush out is cleric's collar otherwise it would be endorsing Catholicism? The fact that you and many others even think that demonstrates that people do need to speak up and complain when this happens. The person responsible for the retouched photo is either afraid of the ACLU, uncomfortable with minor, public displays of faith, or both.

Captain Rhetoric. You probably think it is in the constitution somewhere too.

You know for a fact they were "whining" and "lamenting."

I don't have a problem with removing it though. LSU would get more grief from idiots like 312 and his ACLU buddies by leaving it there.

No.

When a photo of Episcopal or Catholic priests is uesd (that has happened) they don't airbrush a Red Hot Chili Peppers t-shirt to replace their collar.

Thin line for LSU on this one. And a bad move.

WOW

Facebook made it an issue. Media picked up on it. The guy in this thread has stated on multiple occasions that they are not pursuing anything, including attention. LSU brought this on themselves for using the edited photo in the first place.

Secondly, calling out someone behind a keyboard takes real balls. I'm talking about the biggest balls...ever. The thread was centered around LSU's actions. You come in calling names. Yes, it's a message board. There aren't many rules. But to question someone like this without knowledge will lead you in the wrong direction.
