TLDR version: does it feel as ridiculous now as it did then that we were forced to play Bama a 2nd time after beating them at home?

Yes, I could see a rematch happening for two teams(not in the same conference) that faced eachother at the beginning of the year(like Oregon-LSU), but it was ridiculous that we played a team not only in the same conference as us, but the same division for the National Title.

Combined with how insufferable Bama fans have been since then, I hope Bama goes back into decades of Shula-era embarrassment. They didn't deserve it last year, and they are looking like they have it locked up this year. If they get 2 in a row and 3 in 4 years, I'm never going to go to the SEC rant.

Of course, I'm mad. And butthurt.

The whole thing was/is a beauty contest. If Oklahoma rather than Okie State had the 11-1 record and the early December Bedlam Beatdown, we would have played the Sooners. Okie State was punished for not having very much history. (Just listen to all the idiots who say stupid things like "College football is so much better when Florida is good.")

It won't be that much better when the playoff starts, since the committee will pick the top 4 in the AP pretty much every year.

We should have paid better attention to all of the bowl rematches in the last 15 years that resulted in 20+ point turnarounds. Should have seen it coming.
