The new CBA correct, but the offense happened under old one.
and the new CBA had rules for offenses happening under the old CBA.
quote:
They were reduced and one was maintained.
they were overturned by the appeals panel and then re-issued under different rulings distinguishing conduct detrimental from salary cap issues (which they didn't do a very good job of)
quote:
The panel's decision states that Special Master Stephen Burbank, not Goodell, should discipline players for receiving money from a pool that paid for big plays. Goodell's role, the panel said, should be limited to whether he can prove the players intended to injure opponents, which would fall in the category of conduct detrimental to the game. Players and coaches implicated in the bounty pool have testified under oath in a related federal court case they never intended to injure opposing players.
he didn't have the authority to suspend the players under its current ruling.
Vilma saved millions off the overturning.

Did anybody really give a shite that cam's dad was at the stadium for the MNC game when he was explicitly banned? I'm sure some butthurt whiny bitches did, but worrying about where someone is watching a game is a complete bitch move.
And yet we had Christine Brennan writing articles and full discussions on ESPN for weeks after it happened so yeah ISWYDT, but as an Auburn fan I'm used to media scrutiny and op-Ed pieces so come harder next time

And really Saints fans try being an Auburn fan and having to deal with people throwing out things like, "bag men", "FBI wire taps", "rigged slot machines" and HBO & 60 minute specials while constantly being told you're going to get the Death Penalty soon and then tell me how mean Roger the Ginger is to you

What the hell does that have to do with anything? What exactly did you lose from all the chatter. It sounds like you really give a shite about a lot of trivial things said/done by other people.

WTH? Am I not on tigerdroppings.com which is a message board for all things LSU athletics that contains boards pertaining to several other subjects, in particular the More Sports Boards for sports related discussions?
And the More Sports Board is the Board that we are currently having this discussion on so if I wanted to discuss world peace or free trade agreements I would post elsewhere. But since I wanted to discuss sports I chose to post on this board.
You win. I think I'll exit from this discussion at this point because you are clearly talking in circles and making little sense

This is what ultimately turned me off of the Saints & Brees, their egotistical pursuit of records

So you're bitching about the op-ED pieces regarding Cam's dad watching the game, but you are also bitching about the coaches watching the game.

Nope. I was pointing out your thinly veiled attempts to compare the media commenting on Cam's father being at the NC game to Saint's coaches being at Brees's game. I thought I made that clear with the, "ISWYDT" but maybe I didn't?

you realize the Saints got the worst penalty in NFL history? We've had basically everything you listed in that post happen to us except we actually got fricked. We had multiple Outside the Lines segments, a FBI investigation, etc.
So sorry yall almost got in trouble. This guy is unreal

Right, you ALMOST got in trouble but nothing actually happened. With about the same amount of proof as there is in bountygate, except we had a single meglomaniac out to prove a point determining our punishment while Auburn had an actual NCAA process to protect it

Brees at his worst is a better QB than Bradshaw.

The 60 minute special was in 1992 and was followed by post season and television bans. The program has continued to face scrutiny since that time, particularly during periods of success - it comes with the territory.
Same with the Saints. If you were still the, "Aint's" the bounty is not as big of a deal, but since your team now draws ratings and online clicks, it's open season and statements like those made by Bradshaw will become front page news.

oh, I get it, misery loves company, eh?
I'm sort of surprised Bradshaw ripped Brees and the Saints. He usually is a Saints sunshine pumper. He took a shot at Goodell regarding the bounty bullshite in the pregame show before our game with Washington this year. This makes Bradshaw look like even more of an idiot. If he wants to try and make a headline or two now, whatever.
I'm gonna be laughing my arse off when Sean Payton returns next year though. All these tards taking shots at the Saints this year better get them in while they can.

The record) didn't blow me away," Bradshaw said. "I'm not much on that stuff ... I'm not into records, fellas. I'm just into winning football games. (The Saints) hadn't won a game ... I'm not into records, I'm into winning Super Bowls ... These things aren't important. We lose sight of why we play. We play to win and to win championships, not to break records."
This is what a lot of you die hard fantasy football lovers seem to lose sight of. Quarterbacks like Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Namath, Dan Marino and John Elway didn't toss the football all over the field for the heck of it. They didn't throw the football to break records or collect stats. They threw the football to win football games, get to the playoffs, and ultimately win the Super Bowl.

Yes, Brady being so close does diminish the wow factor of the record a little bit (as did him being so close in yards last year) but it is still an incredible record.
Only makes the records greater IMO. The 'Golden Boy', one of the best ever. Brees one-ups him. Pretty impressive actually.
