re: Just a simple question: Do you know more about football than Les Miles?

the point is in the absolutes people here make. They don't pose ideas for considerations, but berate the man as stupid and that they have all the solutions.
If people want to contrast Les with other coaches, I get that. Apples to Apples.
But, this is aimed at the know-nothings that have all the solutions and Les is just simply stubborn/stupid.

Since he's 3-3 vs. NS, Nick must really suck, huh.
Yea your right, Miles is on the same level as Saban. Good god...
Don't blame me when you make emotional/foolish comments such as Miles being the bottom of the barrel in coaching.
quote:
I dont care what his record is against teams
But another foolish comment. Everything in sports is bout the records of players/coaches when competing head up against the best a conference/college football has to offer.

Thats what the sign of a good coach is
Look, you can knock the man all you want, but a HC in the SEC doesn't continually win at his level for 7+ yrs when his teams compete against the very best college football has to offer if he's not a "good coach".
Thinking of that kind only shows your personal bias or lack of college/SEC football intelligence. imo

Total college football---NO. Ability to coach better during a game--give me one year at LSU and I would say YES.
We need a new OC.
We need a new OC.

The program was great from a talent perspective, shitty from an offensive scheme perspective.
And he left it how he found it. 5-6 before he got there. 4-7 when he left.

I get it. Miles won a NATL Champ and SEC champ, so therefore he is a better coach than a guy who is 4 years in as a head coach at a school that has 0 football tradition, some of the worst facilities in the nation, plays with less talent than most schools in the SEC, and gets recruits that the bigger schools dont want, but they play at a higher level then there talent. With Miles on the other hand, he walked into a program that was already established as a power house that was in the natl champ 2 seasons before he got here, with the top facilities in the nation, gets the better recruits at one of the easiest school to recruit at in the nation(1 school state and LA is loaded with talent), but always plays below our talent level and down to the opponents level.
I dont know which coach i want. 1 that underachieves with better talent or 1 that overachieves with sub par talent. This is a tough 1.

I'd like to see a breakdown, but more times than not, these guys don't have the same success once they get a bigger gig...

Fortunately we still had some Saban/Fisher coached players.
Saban and Jimbo had how much influence?
Seems Saban bowed out meekly and Jimbo's O sucks hind teat to '07 and '11 in scoring O.
I do think Jimbo had a lot of influence in the '07 O.
quote:A 3rd year coach winning an NC gets no credit?
That title was as indicative of Miles' coaching ability, as Switzer's Super Bowl ring.
I guess that would disqualify both Meyer's and one of Saban's NCs.

All of us combined do not know as much as Coach Miles about football but we do know when something is not working and that offense is not working. Coach needs to make a change. Too much talent on that team to not score points and that is just my opinion.

and yet you question whether or not we think we should win every game?
hell no, but if we are averaging 9 points per game in the SEC, we have every right to question what the hell this coach is thinking, or wonder what the hell he's gonna do to fix this offense.

....look, I agree something needs a fix. Bobo the Chimp can see that, but I do think the current regime is looking into it. Believe it or not, they hate losing more than LSU fans do.

I can assume why they did what they did at UF, but don't know for fact. AND, if our WRs handle their business, we win that game. That was execution fail on their part.
Guys, thanks! This has been a successful fishing trip

When we keep underachieving, I will keep knocking the man. And since its all about records, have a look at this. Les is 2-3 against Arkansas with Bobby P . You cant sit there and tell me Arkansas has more talent than we do. How did they win then? They had a coach that knows how to develop talent better than our coach does.

tell me your opinion though.
as far as UF and Auburn defenses go, were they too strong and not have enough weaknesses for us to exploit? not one?

I would say they've had more talent on offense during those years...Mallet/Wilson >>> Lee/Jefferson.

Nobody is ever as surprised by our failures, as Les Miles.

We get guys that are highly rated, too. Their talent is no match for our coaching, and eventually concedes.
