I like him but I've listened to him for many, many years and I'm aware of taking part of it with a grain of salt. He's entertaining though and he loves his NO.

I live by his "six month" rule and he taught me to put a stick of butter in my red beans at the end for creaminess.

And he had a great food board for years prior to this one. Gris Gris and I were on it for a long time before this one even started.

I think he did a lot for the New Orleans food scene over the years and you have to respect that. First food publication, first radio show, and first website. He has some good recipes and great information on his website but you can't take everything he says seriously. Because he does take care of his advertisers

TF's problem is that he offends people. His delivery of information in many cases is obnoxious, but that's his schtick. In some ways, it reminds me of a reality show. It works, though, because he gets people so angry that they continue to give him attention. On the other hand, he had to spend a lot of time monitoring his food forums and deleting criticisms about himself from his detractors some of whom had an odd obsession with him. Finally shut the last one down. I think he's got a new one that requires payment and use of real names or something like that. Years ago, the forums were good and there were some quality posters providing quality info and a lot of it. The place was never slow. Eventually, it went downhill.

I take his reviews with a slab of salt, but they're informative as far as details about the restaurants, signature and better dishes, info on busy times, making reservations etc... The top 12 lists can be helpful when you're looking for restaurants serving brunch on Sunday or open for Thanksgiving, Christmas etc... I also like to peruse his recipes.

He has some value, but I prefer to read his nomenu site rather than listen to him or read his posts on a forum on which he practices his talent of belittling people. He's a guy people love to hate.

Martini, TF doesn't put butter in his red beans. I told you about doing that and I got it from our mutual friends in New Orleans.
