you guys are so negative. if obj holds onto the ball, it may well have led to a td and at the very least a go ahead field goal. that could have been enough to win the game notwithstanding the offense problems. THE SKY IS NOT FALLING.

The problem here is much deeper. The guy is a clown, whoever is calling plays does not trust him, and nobody on the team likes -- or more importantly respects -- him.

At this point, it's up to Miles to correct the situation.

Here's another reality: The Stud/Miles "gameplan" is only effective when LSU has an overwhelming advantage on the line. The minute we don't, the minute we face an athletic defensive line - that is, the minute that the staff has to actually scheme against an evenly matched opponent - we struggle. It happened against UGA in the SECCG (thank God the defense created turnovers and Tyrann bailed us out), it happened against Bama in the NCG, and it happened against Florida this weekend. Hell, it even happened against AU.

The OP was good and this is a good point as well.

I know our injuries on the OL have hurt (how many did we have last year - Josh before the season, Faulk during the State game, and PJ during the Tenn game; others?).

That said, why is our O so high-maintenance? It seems for what we're attempting, it takes a dominant OL, experienced QB, tall WR's, etc.

Consider OM this year; new HC, soph QB fresh our of JC, probably way less talent on their OL and at the sill pos., and they put together two nice TD drives on Bama (and not during trash time either). Also,ULM - scored 28 on Auburn vs our 12.

It just seems as if what we're trying to do is so unnecessarily difficult.

Les is a good coach. He can be a great coach. He just really needs to rethink his approach on O. BTW, playing it conservatively in the 1st half vs UF when we're pinned inside our 10 was very good coaching. UF hadn't done diddly on O and no need to give'em easy points.

Our success begins and ends with our line play. Injuries to our O-line have diminished our offenses ability to wear down the defense. 3 and outs and instead its our defense that is back on the field trying to catch its breath. In the 3rd and 4th quarters, it finally bends enough to give up some points. But this is fixable. Everyone fails to point out that we gave up a TOTAL of 237 yards in this game. We lost by 1 score. 8 penalties and 3 turnovers kept Florida in the game.
This is all fixable though. Moving Mett to the shotgun will give him an extra second. The big play to OBJ was from the shotgun, and plays to Metts strength, throwing the ball downfield. We are missing the big possession reciever, but if we utilize the TEs more we can help Mett out. Operating from the shotgun will also help our Rbs/FB pick up the blitz.
Yes, this is all predicated on the staff actually implementing these corrections. So save the negative comments regarding that, I am fully aware of the tendencies of this staff. However, the point is, there are things that can correct these issues, and with a smothering defense like we have along with great special teams play, we are not dead in the water..Need some enthusiam from not only the team but fans as well..

What do you think the chances are that he is going to do one thing different on offense ? Are you still going to be in his corner when the same offensive game plan is run in every game the rest of the year ? ala JJ.

I've never thought of myself as being "in his corner" but this thread isn't about me.

I guess the only hope from his history that he'll open things up is from '06 (after we had lost two games). It seemed then we went from an approach that we're using now (run first) to taking of advantage of the great WR's (Bowe, Doucet, Buster) and JaMarcus.

"Would have had a better chance with Stephen Hawking at QB on that play"

Agreed! Mett is not the mobile QB that was thought. The offense brings back memoris of the Carlie Mack UP THE MIDDLE UP THE MIDDLE UP THE MIDDLE PUNT DAYS. Offensive health is desperatley needed

Here is my take (observation). Yes we have lost a couple guys on the Oline, but our replacements should rival starters of many other teams. Say Townsen,North Texas or Auburn for that matter. Blue is out, but our RB corp is deep with many of them being full time starters if they were playing on another team. No blocking = no running. With Stud being the OC, who is the Oline coach? Is he splitting time between the two? If so shouldn't his full attention be on preparing for our next game? Just questions. I believe that LSU being a elite program should have a elite OC. I believe that Chavis is a elite DC and it showes on the field.

We might run the most simplistic route combinations I have ever seen. You are not going to beat many teams with 3 man routes consisting of a 8 yard curl, a 10 yard out and 5 yard out

If you've really followed this closely at the games, and when reviewing film, it's embarrassing to behold.

Elementary school teams that my son participates against are advanced compared to our passing game coordination. The worst part of that statement is that I'm not exaggerating.

I put the majority of my frustration on the staff, but when one of your supposed top receivers has more penalty yards than receiving yards, and the other has made just as many big plays for the opponent as he has for his team, you tend to symphatize with the coaches a little.

Mostly, though, Miles' handling of the clock at the halves does not breed confidence. The multiple egregious TO debacles over the years, and just the simple fact that we continuously do not look coordinated on offense has to be difficult to hide from everyone. Somewhere along the line, respect has to be questioned.

Everyone is worried about a leader on the field, but you have to question who is leading on the sidelines?
