Re: Mettenberger and team enthusiasm

Made the trip to Gainesville for the game yesterday and one of the things I wanted to watch in person was how the bench reacted to leadership (if there was any). And after reading this board the last few weeks I was completely caught off guard by what I saw.
The entire game Mett was walking up and down the sidelines trying to pump up the running backs and offensive line. Meanwhile they sat there like dead lifeless bodies (this includes when we were leading in the game and the offense was running somewhat smoothly). Some refused to acknowledge Mettenberger when he came around, left him hanging on fist bumps, didn't say a word to anyone. This offensive line is not only performing pitiful on the field, but on the sidelines as well. They looked like a cancer to this team.
Now people believe what they want (that Mett only sits in the boxed off area and doesn't talk to the rest of the team) but I'm telling you what I witnessed with my own eyes. There was no leadership on the offensive line. Ford and Ware looked drained as well. They seemed like they couldn't care less what happened. It was one of the most pitifully disgusting displays of "team" I have ever seen.

There comes a point when something is not working and nothing is done about it that you stop believing in it.
That point has come and gone.
That point has come and gone.

Agreed. I went there wanting to see how the team was on the sidelines after reading the posts on this board.

And that point is when you're 5-0 after finishing 13-1 the year before? Are you even serious? Do you really think our team is as whiney and pathetic and selfish as that?

They're all sick of this garbage offensive "scheme" that Miles is so dead set on running.
It takes a monumental effort just to get 3 yards.

We have one of the biggest o-lines this year and every single one of them is soft. Big, slow, unathletic, uninspired, pile of goo SOFT.

I can believe it. I know I'm not excited watching it, or confident it will change.

I sat row 8 on the 50 yard line behind the bench. Everyone was visibly tired. Probably from the heat. shite I was exhausted from the heat and I didn't have a sip of alcohol.

I was 6 rows in front of you. And it wasn't tiredness, they came out of the gates that way. Yes it was hot. But this is football. You condition all summer long for it. Suck it up.

The team doesn't believe in this bullshite offense anymore

You're bitching about enthusiasm on the bench though. There's a reason tiger stadium and the swamp are both louder at night.

If you are fighting the coaching all the way then you are only compounding the issue. And you deserve to be benched. You grow the frick up and play the game. Regardless of how much you may disagree with the play calling. Don't make the issue worse by being a cancer and affecting the moral of the rest of the team.

Sure seemed that way.

I started the thread to point out, contrary to popular belief on this board, Mett looks like he is at least trying to breathe life into the players on the sidelines. You can take it however you want.

Sorry, but if you are still this dense I can't help you.

I was thnking this but didn't want to say it but OK, is there something going on there, especially with the election coming up? I'm hoping not the case! Remember they didn't care for J Booty, (black and white players) but all rallyed around Rohan so not quite the same.

Saw Mett on the sidelines when the TV showed him one time and earlier in the game and definitely saw him patting the offense line on the shoulder pads. Dont know if they were ignoring him or not as the TV camera switched off. Looks to me that he is trying to lead the team. Hopefully, they work it out and follow. But I do agree with your post, he is not just sitting in a corner twiddling his thumbs.
