That's what I'm leaning to when I make my next purchase.

That's pretty good, but the V8 gets around the same, doesn't it?

I have the 5.4L 2010 Flex Fuel and I avged 20.5 on my trip to Fayetteville last year. Anytime I'm on the road and cruising at 72 mph I avg over 20.

I usually get 18-19 in city
From MotorTrend:
Instead, the company is developing a V-6 EcoBoost engine for the F-150 which employs turbocharging and direct-injection -- a design that Ford says will deliver similar power to a V-8 engine -- all while using less gas.
Such engines are cheaper to build than diesels -- less than $1000 more costly than a conventional V-8 in comparison to the $4000 or $5000 price tag of a diesel engine, according to Ford. That thousand bucks buys you more power, expected to top the targets of 340 horsepower and 340 pound-feet of torque from the 3.5-liter turbo V-6, compared with the 320 and 390 for today's 5.4-liter Triton V-8.
It will also return 15-20 percent better mileage, Ford engineers predict. That extrapolates to 16 mpg city/23 highway for the EcoBoost engine, compared with 13 and 18 for the V-8 today

This must be a 2wd
My 2010 5.4 4x4 averages maybe 16-17 on the interstate
Of course my cruising speed is closer to 78

That's incredible. My old 5.4 averaged 13 highway with 34x12.5" tires. I'll get my Ecoboost one day...

I get 17mpg max in town with my 5.0. I took one trip and got 22mpg cruising at 60-65mph but once I got on the interstate and set it on 75, my mpg went down to around 19.5.
I was definitely leaning towards the ecoboost but the dealer was more willing to deal on the 5.0 and it had everything I wanted. I think the ecoboost has proved itself and set a new standard.
