Try the place off hwy 90 in des allemands by the airboat tours. Cant think of the name but they have a sign in their front yard for live blue crab. Damn good crabs.

Bait crabs eating crabs or soft shell?

Don't know any crabbers. OhFace Danos's usually has some crabs on the weekends that are nice. I could give you the number to a guy Chris in Raceland. He sells seafood. His parents own the crab factory in Raceland on LA1.

They seemed pretty scarce in the area this year. We bought some one day directly from a crabber checking his traps out in Raccourci after a day of fishing...couldn't find them anywhere else. So you may have to hop in the boat and go find someone

Capt Allens, but quality is hit or miss. I like the idea someone else suggested about des allemands. IMO, des allemands area consistently produces the sweetest, best tasting crabs. May also try the new farmers market on la 1 at hwy 90, open Saturday mornings.
