I figger yall haven't had a frost down there yet, BP? Have you ever eaten or tasted a simmon that has not been frosted on and isn't ripe? If not, go out there and taste one of those "green" simmons. You'll see what I mean.

That is total falsehood. prisimmons rippen like all other fruit.
We havent had temps lower than 50 and I ate several the other day. Sweeter than fresh honey.

The simmons here ain't nowhere near ripe yet. Guess it's the difference in the growing season lengths? I agree, they are delicious...when they're ripe. But if they're not ripe, they'll curl your lips past your ears.

Let me educate you whippersnappers on what to do with those green persimmons.
Get a half-gallon of green persimmons, dip in chocolate, set out on a table in a public place (I prefer parties or kitchen table at workplace), watch people bite into them. It never gets old.

You can do that with onions also

We had 5 persimmon trees at the house as a kid. They made for a great object to throw at other kids. The chocolate idea sounds glorious...

Concur with Diesel.
Thats a grown one making that size of rub.
Especially a signpost rub at that.
Me thinks I would spend mucho tiempo on that stand.......when the wind is right of course.
Maybe the chocolate covered persimmon thing will draw out big boy and you can lace him as he gets preoccupied trying to spit out that nasty green persimmon taste.

Damn if the wind was all wrong for my stands this am. Freaking SSE wind was not going to let him get near me so I slept in. I hope next time i get a chance and favorable winds he is still in the same area.

In grad school I brought some to a student/faculty function. Everything had to be labeled. I labeled mine as "sweet swamp cherries."

Damn that shite is funny.
I dont know why but every year during a dove hunt, I get the bright idea that it will taste different when I bite into this time than it did last year.... And every year my mouth dries up and I cant get that funky feeling off my teeth and tongue
