Sorry, its still Dallas. I wish it wasn't. I wish you would all let us be mediocre in peace. But no. You still watch. Still LOL when they screw up. Still start threads about a team that really has no bearing on your life.
You still care. You are the problem you rail against.
America's Team...yup. Because more of America STILL cares about them than any other, though they've had no reason to for more than a decade and a half.
Kinda like Notre Dame, actually.
Anyway, you want the title, you can have it...believe me.

when people quit hating the cowboys for no apparent reason, they will cease to be America's team.

I think this is probably right but people don't realize it.
I lived in AK and when I moved figured everyone would be Seahawks fans as the locals adopt most things Seattle since it's the closet city with pro franchises.
But go out to a bar for MNF and there were Steelers fans everywhere...quite a few Raiders but mostly Steelers...all the time, even when they weren't playing.
People think they just travel well because they take over stadiums...nah, they're everywhere...the 1970's created an entire generation and their kids.

See I must define America's team differently than you.
I think about it like "which team do most fans pull for?" Like someone said, I've never really met anyone who hated the Lions and personally I pull for them whenever they play.

The moral victories Cowboys fans are coming up with are astounding... hey our team is in complete disarray, but everyone hates us, so they are jealous of us!

exactly....and the mid to late 2000's was like throwing gasoline on a fire.
In Jacksonville, West Palm Beach, and Orlando I have heard LOCAL sports talk stations advertising for Steelers parties, same goes for when I lived south of San Fransisco and in San Diego. I've met a half dozen fans here in west palm beach that have been fans for 35-40 years and like you said their kids who have never been to Pennsylvania much less a Steelers game outside of when the team plays the dolphins, bucs, or jags.

Yeah, maybe so. For most pervasive fans, I'd say Packes or Steelers...they're everywhere.
But that leaves out half the equation to me. Dallas draws twice as many haters as it does fans to a water cooler, TV screen, or internet thread. Hell, maybe 5 times.
That, to me, means more of America gives a crap about them. That's my definition, I guess. Hell, I couldn't give two shits what the Steelers did this weekend...they aren't in my division or conference. Packers are a different story, possible (though unlikely) playoff implications.
But people that are neither Bears nor Cowboys fans are talking about the game still...that's why. Check the ratings, I guess...
But its fine with me if yall wanna stop

There's really only one definition for America's team.

They appear on television so often that their faces are as familiar to the public as presidents and movie stars. They are the Dallas Cowboys, " America's team".

Because the media annointed your team as "america's team" and your insecure fanbase ran with it. They prop your team up every year and your fans buy into it and get full of themselves. Which in turn makes everyone hate your team and we enjoy watching them shite the bed.

I hope you didn't think I was claiming any sort of victory tonight. I don't think haters are jealous...I just think they're bizarre.

Steelers and it isn't close IMO...they are like the fricking plague...go into any fricking airport in the country on a sunday during football season and there will be 15-20 steelers fans watching in a restaurant or bar. Go to any neutral sportsbar in city without pro football and Steelers will be the largest fanbase in the place.
Very true!

I can't speak for the "insecure fanbase" hg (though that sounds bit like projection). Like I implied: if anybody wants the title, they can have it. Gladly.

I hate to say this as a Ravens fan but it's clearly the Steelers. There's always a ton of Steelers fans at every road game they play at.
huge bandwagon fan base though, the year before Ben you didn't see them taking over stadiums and a huge chunk of their fan base has no connection to western pa, nw wv or eastern ohio

There's no America's team. Especially now.
People have come around more than ever for rooting mainly for proximity teams. More casual fans now more than ever as well.

isn't that pretty much what "America's team" is though? How do you not have the necessary nationwide following without bandwagon fans?

Does Dallas still have the Latin American support or is that shifting towards the Texans?

thats florida in general tho. Watching the skins game in tampa was basically a skins home game.

It's still Dallas, although it seems like Steeler "fans" are everywhere now.
