The offensive line was not that bad.

Long time no post...

Some of you may not know enough about football to know that the worst place for pressure to come is up the middle...which our offensive line did not allow on Saturday night.

Yes they were getting pressure from the edge, but that is acceptable, and almost expected. The adjustment made by the coaching was perfect in that they kept backs in to chip.

As far as the penalties, the place was loud, and it took some time for them to adjust. Just look at the 4th quarter where LSU had no penalties.

They'll be just fine.

well the main problem is that mett is pretty stationary. when flushed he's pretty bad. i think if he would step up in the pocketinstead of out, he'd be more effective.

Why wait until the 3rd quarter to help?

Look bottom line someone called a 3rd down play with a 0 backfield and 5 WR's in an obvious down-and-distance situation where everyone knew we were passing.

Keeping the TE or a back in the backfield to either chip or personally protect did not make or break that play.

The expectation for that play in the playbook is for the LT to go one-on-one. That's a dumb coaching move to think 68 can execute against 55 in that situation. If you aren't aware of your player's limitations, or you just flat out don't care, then that's a sign of poor coaching.

Someone saw that play and literally thought it could work. 68's simply not capable of handling that responsibility, and it cost us a shot on the QB, a TO, and 7 points.

Dumb coaching to call that play and there's no excuse for it. Make the adjustment before you see a problem.

Stop playing defense with your offensive adjustments. Start being proactive and we'll see better results.

I think I would be more concerned about the playcalling. We seem to have resorted to some sort of a primitive, unimaginative scheme with downhill running (mainly toss power out with the 2 TE and FB) and the occasional screen, slants, and go routes. No timing routes, very few crossing patterns, posts, hooks, hitchs etc. In short a poorly coordinated offensive philosophy with a mish mash of zone read, multiple WR sets, and power iso. Just no real identity once the running game gets stopped, no go to receivers or TEs on a crucial third down. Not to mention the execution is just not there.
IMO, and I know I am :beatdeadhorse: but Miles should hire an offensive coordinator who knows what he is doing and GTFO of the way.

Mett needs to step forward and make the throw. Not move side to side. He isn't fast and the d ends will catch him. I like the idea of leaving a back in case he needs to dump the pass off, instead of throwing an incompletion.
