There is a way to write it off. IIRC you deduct it as a second home. There's a stipulation that you have to stay in it x number of days a year (14, I think) to qualify.

A few other things from the comments:

1) If you have a 5W and a short bed truck, get a slider hitch. That allows you get the clearance in sharp turns to not bust out your back glass.

2) Slide awnings. Nice to have, but pricey. Also, they have a tendency to collect water and stretch/tear. If you don't want your slideout to leak maintaining the seals and seams is the key.

Correct i asked, you can write it off, don't even have to use HELOC which i have too.

He was talking about this too, pricey, are nice to have, can be a little difficult with water collecting and how you have to roll them back up. Help a little bit with the heat too but frick, it's $1000 for 2 of them.
