I just want to make sure it's a fool proof good investment for the family and young kids over the next 10-15 years.

We bought a cheapo used hybrid to make sure. It worked out, so we moved up. Ours heads to the campground tonight and will stay until Halloween.

Yep, Exactly what Alx said. I'd buy cheap, use it a few times (you'll know within the first three or four trips if it's something you'll continue to do) then trade up to a nicer camper if you're still interested. I wouldn't spend a shite ton of cash on a really nice one until you're sure everyone will enjoy it. I've seen lots of high dollar campers sitting in people's yards until they eventually sell them for a loss (only used once or twice).
ETA: It is definitely an investment. You'll have to have it serviced every year or two. Roof replacement is a regular thing. Not extremely costly, but you'll be spending money on it yearly. I do love mine though, wouldn't go back to not having a camper for sure.

Is it half price already? I was thinking it was full price through the end of this month.

not huge, but be prepared for the maintence hes talking about doing if not. Glad mine is covered.
You need to think about how much you will actually use it. Its not worth much if you will only take it out a few times a year. We spend a 2-3 months a year in ours because our favorite place to go is just as close to work as our home is.

Yeah, gotta agree with earlier posters, go inexpensive on your first RV. Take the family camping for the next year or so before you decide to drop alot of cash on one. State parks are great places to stay also, don't just limit yourself to private parks. Enjoy.

quote:No, it starts 10/1, but we go ahead of time to get a spot on the point and to make sure we are on the list for the Fall. One year we missed getting the 1/2 price October by 1 person. The demand is not nearly as high now, but we still want a premium on the point.

Biggest thing is getting the Mrs to like it. The kids don't have an option, and as long as you bring them outdoors they should have a good time regardless.

Yeah, we sold the first one because of things she did not like. I could have lived with it, but was glad she did not like it. We learned what features we absolutely had to have.
Sold the second one due to layout. We are now one feature short of the perfect camper. To be fixed on next upgrade.

Best Purchase I have made. Do alot of camping with friends the kids love it and makes for a relaxing weekend. Then pull it to the deer lease and use it during hunting season.

I might have lived in the city too long, and need to move back to the country where my parents are from; however, if I push a button on the toliet and a giant hole opens up...I don't want it.

Yes.

I want to go back to front bath. We have no room to move in front. Small bunkhouses generally have rear bath. I want all the room up front that comes with the front bath. Very few 1/2 ton friendly bunkhouses have that, but I know of at least one.

Let me know if something opens again if you dont mind. I dont mind the next section as long as were on the water. Were only gonna stay on the weekends mostly with the new babies but still looking forward to it.
