The way he said it, it made it seem like he just wanted 45 more days with her because he cant have it n the future

It would make a lot of sense that shes dead in flash forwards

No, it wouldn't make sense. I see no way to read this episode as if the mother is now dead. He's just saying that if you love someone, you wish you had as much time with them as possible, even those 45 days. Or 45 seconds.

I can't believe this was such a hard thing to figure out. Additionally, how the hell is this a filler episode? It moved the ball thematically forward. It tethered the audience's relationship to Ted to create his future feelings towards the mother and have them retroactively apply.

It's about love. It stripped away the quirk and got to the core. It's about Ted's love for his wife and his family.

Ehh I guess you're right. It was just a very roundabout way to say all of that. I guess since we really can't do much between now and the finale when he meets the mother, this is as much we can move forward in an episode

Guess people just take these things differently. Him crying just set off that thought to me. Someone you see every day wont give that type of reaction if you had a chance to go back and see her imo. He seemed like he was grieving

He also said "You know exactly where id go" to the kids. I dont see how they would instinctivly know that he had that deep of love he has for his wife (theyre teenagers, with little experience on the subject). But if he was mourning it would make a ton of sense

Its just what I got from it

Literally nothing happened. We already knew they were meeting at the wedding, and we know the wedding is the season finale. Nothing changes, nothing moves forward.

I'm with you.

I thought it was a good episode. Not the best, but certainly not a terrible filler episode. Filler isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's almost inevitable at this point. The plot is in neutral until the wedding.

I don't get the "mother is dead" theory. I took it like Baloo said. And that with his friends being distracted by their baby and their wedding, those 45 days until he met his wife were his lowest days. And he would give anything to have had her during those 45 days.
