I actually like Barney and Robin together, and it makes perfect sense in the context of the show which is about maturing and accepting responsibility.
Though I thought the best bit of meta commentary was Barney summing up the entire show's history in one minute.

That makes sense and all, but they were horrible together. The actors actually looked miserable. They just don't have that chemistry that some actors have. The writers didn't even attempt to make the relationship believable. After their relationship is over, the writers decide that their soulmates?

I disagree. I understand your second point, but the show has done SO MUCH to establish these characters and their beliefs and what they want, not just in relationships and whatnot, but in life overall. And neither of them want the same things. And then all of a sudden they throw them together. Then, like someone else said, they do SO MUCH to show you that they're both completely over each other and moved on, and in one episode, all of that previous shite is tossed out the window and they're on their way to getting back together again.
It's frustrating that the show seems to try so hard to establish these things over here only to pull the rug out and be like "Nah...it's those things over there actually." And then go back and forth between the two several times. I can understand why some people would be insulted by that.
