What needs to improve? What are your concerns with the team thus far?

still worried about the O Line against elite competition. Losing Faulk was a big blow and we haven't played anyone that will test us on the edge yet. Lemonier for AU will be a good test this week.

i'm worried about our passing game against elite defenses; uf and bama. will mett have time? will a receiver get open? we have got to have a down the field passing attack to win the sec.

Pass protection breakdowns allowing Mett to get hit hard at times. Pass coverage breakdowns. I expect defense to get this fixed. If you don't play well the Chief will bench you. He isn't Les and has no favorites.

I think it is too early to call these weaknesses. it is tought to really tell anything considering who we have played. I don't think we'll really find anything out until October. My areas of concern are:

Pass protection
Forcing balls into coverage
Interior DL
Big plays allowed

ETA:
Lack of a big down field receiving threat

We won the SEC last yr w/o a "down the field" passing game

true. but saban got outcoached bad or bama would have won the first game and we wouldn't have won it. saban won't repeat that error. also, we couldn't win a nattie w/o said attack. we need to get the kick arse defenses to respect our passing attack and we need it for first downs when they stop the run. and believe me, florida bama and probably msu and usce can stop our run.

Receivers need to get better separation consistently.

We have a young team. It still has some growing up to do, but they have good potential. The play of the O line is a bit of concern mainly because they are thinning due to injuries. This is probably going to be the major issue for this team, at least as of now. Lot of penalties, but as this team matures, those will go down. I like what I have seen thus far on this team. At least "JJ" is no longer out there to frick things up.

I would bet LSU threw more % of deep passes last year than any of the last 10 years.
It doesn't take bombs to loosen up Ds and flat passes often work better loosening the box.
LSU just didn't have a sophisticated itermediate game, mostly just PA "shots".
1st year OC, Shady's interruption and no QB development for prior 3 years maybe the cause?

"OL"

I do get concerned when our QB gets blindsided a couple of times in the game. That's one injury we really can't afford. Rivers is still a diamond in the rough, and I would hate to throw him into starting as we are going into SEC play. That would be a pretty wicked initiation for the kid.
