That would actually probably be better for Kiel (though it would obviously hurt ND). Gunner's almost certainly going to redshirt this year. If Golson locks it down, there's a good chance Gunner won't play for 3-4 years, if at all. If it's musical chairs again this season, he has a great chance in the QB race next year.

Great chance at what? Getting to play musical chairs his whole career there? This has been the way it is there so far. I wouldn't want that if I were him.
