Purple pants! in Lexington (1995).

DiNardo's last game at Vandy before taking the LSU job ... home loss to Tennessee, 65-0.

The era of 1980-2000 ... a lot of dark days for a once proud program which had won consistently from year to year. When Dietzel was hired, Mac was gone. Maybe Rein would have been successful, but we'll never know. Several of Rein's assistants got fired after Stovall's 1981 team finished 3-7-1 and got clobbered by Tulane.

This is the answer. Of course, not being a supersticious man, I know that they had no impact whatsoever...but coinkedink? I think not.

Joe Dean willingly accepting mediocrity (or even worse) from the football program might have had an impact, too.
